When Robin Cook wrote Coma in 1977, the idea of hospital patients being incubated for their vital organs sounded like science fiction. Twenty years later, this gripping thriller about a thriving international black market in human hearts, livers and kidneys could come from tomorrow's "Nightline." Author Gerritsen was an internist before she switched her energies to writing, and her experience shows in every scene. When young surgical resident Dr. Abby DiMatteo assists at her first "harvest" (the removal of living organs from a patient declared legally brain dead) at Boston's posh Bayside Hospital, "she felt vaguely nauseated by the whine of the blade, the smell of bone dust," neither of which seem to bother the veterans. It's obviously a personal memory being mined for good fictional purposes. (Gerritsen wrote paperback romance novels before Harvest: Check out her Keeper of the Bride and Thief of Hearts.)

Produktinformation

5.0 von 5 Sternen Take It from someone who knows 1. August 2000
Von Ein Kunde
Format:Taschenbuch
I read this book in two days. I had previously read Tess' other two books, Life Support, and Bloodstream. While both of those were excellant reads, Harvest was the best. She combines page turning suspense, with an professional and insightful medical touch. She does not use medical jargon that would confuse the readers either. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a thrill ride. Gerritsen is an amazing author, up there in talent with the best of Medical Suspense Writing. Well worth your time.

5.0 von 5 Sternen The Best Medical Thriller Around! Don't miss it! 10. Mai 1998
Von Ein Kunde
Format:Taschenbuch
Tess Gerritsen really did an excellent job with this book. Keeps reader's attention from the first to the last page. The Book virtually takes the reader into the action of the book and you can feel the stress and fear Abby is going through. A well thought plot, with some descriptive scenes. I recomend this book for everyone. It is written in a style that you can't and don't want to stop reading. It completely caputers your attention. It is straight forward, with no unexplained twists and confusing minor plots. It is the BEST book I've ever read

5.0 von 5 Sternen A must-read for fans of the medical-suspense genre 8. September 1997
Von Ein Kunde
Format:Taschenbuch
Tess Gerritsen challenges Robin Cook with this addition to the medical-suspense genre. A fast-paced thriller which doesn't fail to provide details on medical procedures, it also manages to include a taste of international racketeering in the "business" of medicine. Gerritsen also has a nice touch for realism--the heroine doesn't always win as easily as Robin Cook's protagonists seem to win. This is a book you'll find hard to put down--I finished reading it in one session

The book kept me in attention from the first to the last page. Excellent story line and realistic explanations for everything. Reading "Harvest" is like taking a journey into Bayside Hospital! Truly amazing book. I was looking for a book to read, and took this one of the shelf in the bookstore without knowing how good it is! I'm glad I found this book! I have already read it 3 times! It is Excellent!!!

5.0 von 5 Sternen An Excellent Book!!! The best I've ever read!!! 22. April 1998
Format:Taschenbuch
Harvest was the first of many books written by Tess Gerritsen that I had a chance to read. It completely captures the reader and "transforms" him/her into the action in the book. You can actually feel the stress and fear Abby DiMatteo is going through! If you are looking for a great medical thriller, I recommend this one! Harvest keeps the reader on the "edge"! You can't stop reading when you start. Excellent book!!!

4.0 von 5 Sternen Forget About Those Other Medical Mystery Writers 14. Dezember 1998
Format:Taschenbuch
Pick up this entertaining, suspenseful novel by Tess Gerritsen M.D. Dr. Abby DiMatteo is a surgical resident who gets curious about some strange happenings at her hospital. Her curiosity plunges her career into a downward spiral that seems to have no bottom. Once again we have a female protagonist who is not a wimpy, ankle-spraining female in need of a strong man (Thank God).
Although the reader quickly becomes aware of where the story is going, the gripping narrative never lets one relax. TG is one physician novelist who believes in really adding some medicine to her books. Some readers may be turned off by her frequent injections of technical terms, but to me it just made the story more real. In this regard she reminds me of Kathy Reichs, the forensic pathologist who wrote the novel Deja Dead.. only Harvest is better.
