Harry Potter - das sind Romane, die mit einer Hingabe erdacht und aufgezeichnet wurden, welche man in der Literatur selten erlebt. Das Tüpfelchen setzt Stephen Fry der ganzen Sache auf. die Bücher von ihm vorgelesen sind nicht nur ein Hörgenuß und nebenbei auch eine hervorragende Englisch-Lernhilfe, sondern sie sind mit ebensolcher Hingabe vorgelesen wie sie geschrieben wurden.

Ich habe mir alle vier Teile auf Kassette besorgt und konnte teilweise nicht glauben, daß es sich nur um einen Sprecher handelt. S.F. bringt Sprach-Akzente ein, die fast schon wie Dialekte wirken, selbst weibliche Stimmen sind unverkennbar weiblich und entsprechen exakt meinen Vorstellungen über die zugrundeliegenden Charaktere.

Zugegeben, auch der Profi S.F. mußte sich in den ersten vier Kapiteln von Buch I erst einlesen! ...aber dann entfacht er ein Feuerwerk sprachlicher Brillianz, welches nahezu bespiellos und glücklicherweise in Serie gegangen ist.

This review is dedicated to all books of HP I`ve listened to so far. For this I need one sentence: FRY IS THE BEST MAN FOR THIS JOB!!!! I do not say I do not lilke Rufus Beck, the German reader. But Stephen Fry, though known as a comedian actor, does his job more seriously in a way. While I was always able to laugh at Rufus Beck`s funny interpretation of voices and characters, Fry can make me believe his kind of interpretatoin MUCH more intensive. Every single character finds a home in his voice without being teezed, you can say. Rufus Beck`s interpretation sometimes seems a bit odd and stupid while Fry`s one NEVER!!!! My wish and suggestion for the future: Fry should NEVER stop reading HP - books!!!!!!!!

There are some people out there, like my one friend, who don't care for that "gay british accent". I, however, quiet like it. I've listened to Potter-Books read by Jim Dale as well as by Rufus Beck, and eventhough I was quiet taken by both their performances, I like Fry's best. I do especially give him credit for being the only reader who doesn't give McGonogall and Hermione a hysteric touch and for leaving Dumbledore energetic, when both, Dale and Beck, make him sound like a wheezy old man. His Hagrid sounds almost exactly like Robbie Coltrane, who does a wonderful job in the movies.
Needless to say that the novel itself is one of the best I've read in the past years, as is the whole series. So if you like Audiobooks, this is one I can recommend.
