I'm not one for soap operas, certainly not a soap opera in a language I don't even speak, and yet HAH managed to speak to me as a viewer in a way TV often doesn't. I quickly became a diehard fan. Yes it has it's usually soap TV drama, affairs and scandals, but Hand Aufs Herz managed to do something that not even UK TV has managed to accomplish yet, and that is to tell the most wonderful tale of budding young love, between shy innocent "Emma" and the suave, dashing, mysterious "Jenny" who's in hot pursuit of Emma's fragile heart. It was a gripping young romance, and despite having to spend a bit of time looking for translations, it's worth it, every second. Their story crosses the bounds of TV into the viewers heart, where it's always going to stay. And what's more I've learned some German along the way too! A terrible shame it was cancelled, but it's brilliant to re-watch again and again and cherish a fleeting but lasting TV show on DVD forever!
