I apologize for writing in English, but while I can read German (with the help of many dictionaries), my ability to write "auf Deutsch" is "nicht so gut"!
I have been fascinated by the Haarmann case for many years and hope someday to write a fictionalized treatment of it. Until recently, though, I despaired of finding a truly comprehensive account of the case. All I had available was Theodor Lessing's book from the 1920s, and Friedhelm Werremeier's book from the 1990s, HAARMANN, which, while vividly written and exciting, could not answer a pivotal question--what became of Hans Grans, Haarmann's accomplice?
This new book not only answers that question, it tells the entire story in a concise, learned, and crystal-clear manner. It also assembles what must be the complete pictorial library of the Haarmann case, including many photos that, so far as I can tell, have never been published before.
Along with the documentary collection DIE HAARMANN-PROTOKOLLE, this book tells us all we need to know about the Haarmann case--a great blessing to those of us who can't simply walk down to the archives in Hannover and consult the materials anytime we please. :-)
Bravo to Matthias Blazek for a job well (and concisely) done!
