OK. I'm a little fatigued by Eckankar members deluging book review sites with rave oh-so-wonderful reviews on EVERY book Harold Klemp writes. That just doesn't cut it and does harm others unfamiliar with Eckankar--they see members trying to sway the public, or DUPE people into buying something from a RELIGION.
SO PLEASE ACCEPT THIS 30 YEAR MEMBER'S SINCERE APOLOGIES!
OK, so... Not ALL Mr. Klemp's books are great. Some are exerpts from many many talks strung together under topics and are very hard to read. Some are really great. Usually, in the pile, there is somethng for everyone.
THIS ONE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
As a member NOT duped, not scammed, not feverish in a 'born'again' way about Eckankar--this is a GIFT to anyone and everyone no matter what religion you are. It is NOT a prayer to some foreign idol named HU from Egypt--as one reviewer stated.
The WORD Hu has been around for eons. Please don't CONFUSE a name with this word or the ancient name for an Egyptian god with a SOUND you sing as a prayer!
The word HU has been sung for thousands of years--IT IS NOT A NEW ECKANKAR THING.
NO MATTER WHAT RELIGION, IF THIS SONG IS SUNG WITH LOVE IN YOUR HEART TO GOD AS YOU SEE FIT--IT WILL HELP YOU.
HU HISTORY? The creator God HU in Egypt, the sufis sing HU, the muslim Allah HU song is beautiful! (try putting allah Hu on utube; ANTI ISLAM FOLKS remember that Allah means GOD. With FOUR Iraq tours I can tell you they really do pray 5x a day and sincerely. not everyone is a jihadist.
SAME GOD, different names-Jehovah, Yahweh, Sugmad, God, Jesus, etc are all names we use in different paths to PRAY. Hu means LIGHT in sanskrit too I believe. so us Hu-mans are LIGHT beings. Hmm!
HU is a UNIVERSAL PRAYER, EASY TO SING.
Some sing hooooo, Eckankar teaches it as Huuu (hugh)
Either way--TRY it. I hated chanting, but I learned this one way back in 1976 as part of a meditation class. It WORKED for me--even back then, WAY before Eckankar. The Cd has many singing it so the harmonies that naturally occur in a large group are resonant and uplifting to listen to--even if you do not sing it yourself.
It just WORKS
