Ages 3^-5. An endearing nursery game is beautifully revitalized in this comforting, sleepy-time picture book. A little hare tests his father's love by declaring his own: "Guess how much I love you . . . This much." Jeram's double-page-spread watercolors are just right for the gentle competition that ensues as parent and child each avow affection in ever more expansive terms. Neither sugary nor too cartoonlike, the watercolors, in soft shades of brown and greens with delicate ink-line details, warmly capture the loving relationship between parent and child as well as the comedy that stems from little hare's awe of his wonderful dad. The story ends with a declaration of love so great it reaches "right up to the moon," and little hare finally falls fast asleep. There's not a wrong note in this tender tale, which should become an enduring bedtime favorite--right up there with Goodnight Moon. Stephanie Zvirin

This is one of my daughter's favorite bedtime books. I always ask her how much I love her and she holds her arms out as far as she can. This book really shows the wonderful relationship between a mother and child. It will always have a special place in my heart. As a note to teachers: I really enjoy reading this book to my class.

Very sweet, touching and reflects the love that my baby is born with. When I was pregnant with my now 5 month old baby boy, my husband and I bought this book and every now and then I read it to him. I was deeply touch by it that I often end with tears in my eyes wishing I could cuddle him at that time. And now, we enjoy reading it together at bedtime while I feel every words, he enjoyed listening to me and looking at the cute pictures.We always ended up,together with my husband, the three of us cuddling each other. It's a perfect book for babies to begin with and also for parents to grow old with...unconditional boundless love. I love you Babes and Pumpkin pie right up to the moon and back!!

I bought this book for my son when he was 8 months old. He is three and a half and still enjoys it. I love reading it to him, never tiring of the interplay between Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare. The way it is written sets a tone of love from child to parent and parent to child which struck a strong chord in me. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
