It's hard to find voices on group discounting that aren't strongly biased one way or the other. Srinivasan takes a measured approach and weighs the merits and pitfalls of group discounting while sharing actual data to back up his claims. Most importantly, he provides the tools that business owners need to figure out if group discounting is for them. As someone who is entering the group discounting space as a "market maker", I found this book hugely informative about both the big-picture economics and the down to earth, practical logistics of group discounting.

It is simple, down to earth, based on simple logic with tools to calculate your situation so you can make up your own mind. It is a simple quick read and the answer is a "no brainer!"

If you want to "keep your shirt on" and reputation in tact then this is a must read book for any retailer, restaurateur or business owner thinking about getting involved in group discounting. Recommended

To Group Coupon Or Not is not just an review of the business model of a specific company, nor is it simply a rant on the "don'ts" of business strategy. The author goes into excellent detail not only profiling the aspects of what to avoid, but also focuses on the specific concepts and methodologies that the SMB (Small Medium Business) owner should be cognizant of when assessing their strategy. I especially like when the author (Rags Srinivasan) itemizes his "Four Cs" of business:
- Costs
- Capacity
- Customer
- Choices
The author gives excellent insight and strategic concepts that will allow the SMB owner to frame their model in the most effective and efficient manner possible. Effectively following the strategies outlined in this book will allow the SMB owner to maximize their business potential and minimize downside risks.
