It's in no way a perfect collection of Diamond's Bang-era stuff (some of these versions had overdubs added after Neil had become a big star on MCA records) but the only way you'll find much of these recordings, at present, is on German or Dutch small label CDs like this one. Neil Diamond has the rights to this material now (hence this CD being deleted) so any future definitive Bang-era release rests in his hands. Highlights here include "Kentucky Woman", "Shilo" and "Solitary Man". Actually, you'll be surprised just how many top quality songs he wrote in his first couple of years as a recording artist, and surprised just how many of these tunes you know - even if they are versions by other artists ("I'm a Believer", "Red Red Wine", "Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon" etc...). If you can find one (or the 19 track SOLITARY MAN disc which if anything is even better), buy one! PS Sorry it's in English, I can't speak German.
