Don't battle an eating disorder forever, recover from it completely! 15. Oktober 2009
Von Andrea Roe - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch
I love "Goodbye Ed, Hello Me" by Jenni Schaefer. This is one of the best recovery books I ever read. It covers so many important lessons that those struggling with eating disorders need to hear, no matter at what stage they are in their recovery.

I really liked that the book also includes exercises to get you, the reader, involved and moving forward in your own healing journey. But what I like most about the book is that Jenni talks about how she moved from "being in recovery" to "being recovered." Many people believe that one has to struggle with an eating disorder forever, or be forever in recovery and has to learn to just live with it.

Jenni's book shows us that eating disorders really can be beaten, ONCE AND FOR ALL. This book will inspire you to take action and know that life without Ed (eating disorder) really is possible for you!"

Bad choice for those who are not yet recovered 27. Februar 2012
Von Tracey Wilson - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I have never left a review before but felt it was important to do so for others like me who are just starting recovery. I selected this book because of all the positive reviews and because the book itself said it was for anyone no matter what stage of recovery they were in. I felt like I was reading a a very general "you can do it too" book but did not get any real information to help guide me through recovery. It was not only hard to connect with but some times it was actually dangerous. At one point, I stopped reading the book and went deeper into my ED. The author spoke about how her body naturally got heavier (which is obviously going to happen) but her description of how her body changed sent me dangerously backwards. For someone who is recovered, this might not be a problem. Maybe some day I will get there, but this is not the place to start.

Best of the Pack 20. Oktober 2011

First i need to say that I read a lot, at first because i wanted to learn English, so i started to read Kindle ebooks.

It was a way to find good and cheap books in English to improve my skills. Now I'm able to read very well, not so much writing as you can see.

About the book. I read a lot about this subject, I've had a family member with an eating disorder and that made her parents suffer a lot, besides after this event I've became interested on this particular theme. I've read most of the Amazon's bestsellers about this subject at least once and I have to say that most books are just plain bad. They use re-hashed content or non value at all. And some are written by people who does not look like knows English very well. Like me.

I've only found 3 really good books on this subject on the Amazon sea, more on this after the break.

Because Goodbye Ed, Hello Me is in another league. I can't recommend enough this book, even if you don't have an eating disorder or anyone on your family I still recommend for the lessons you can learn. It's a book with such inspiration and hope. I couldn't put it down from start to finish. It had me constantly wondering what was going to happen next.

Jenni makes this book so personal and touching and one way or another everyone can relate with her story. It's a highly recommended book.

Besides this book the only other bestseller I can recommend about this subject is Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia (P.S.)

Amazon is pretty big so a few gems are sometimes lost in the Amazon sea What is Wrong With My Bathroom Scale? is one of those books. This is my last but not least choice and in my humble opinion should have more recognition that it has.

I have never written a review....who has the time? And I have read MANY, MANY books on eating disorders. This book, however, is worth the time to express how well written it is! I loved her honesty and thoroughness. I loved her hope. I loved her simplicity in writing....nothing flowery or overly deep and wordy. In my stage of recovery, this is exactly the book I needed to read. I will be purchasing her first book today.

Don't hesitate to buy....a great, great book.

One of the BEST out there... 5. September 2009
Von Kirsten Haglund - Veröffentlicht auf

I was so thrilled yesterday to open up my mailbox to find an autographed copy of Jenni Schaefer's new book, Goodbye Ed, Hello Me! Jenni is also the wonderful author of the book Life Without Ed, a humorous, insightful, and down-to-earth personal story of one woman's 'break-up' and recovery from Ed: her eating disorder. Her lastest work is its companion. I read Life Without Ed during my recovery, and have since recommended it out as a helpful tool to many young men and women as I travel and speak. I was lucky enough to read Goodbye Ed, Hello Me pre-publication and offer a quote for the first page. I HIGHLY recommend both of these books for both individuals and families going through this battle. Jenni's writing is insightful and real; no lofty language, no 'doctor' talk, just raw human emotions, and humor as well. Everyone can relate to Jenni's story, and she is so honest! It's refreshing.
