In Good-bye, Bumps!, Saje Dyer, daughter of best-selling author Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, tells a remarkable story from her childhood in which she was able to overcome a physical condition in a very unique way. In the telling of her story she teaches children the important lesson that when something is bothering them, they can change their attitude toward it and not allow it to have power over them.

This story will help kids understand that some things about themselves can be changed and others will always be with them, but what matters is how they choose to think about these things. In addition to its valuable lesson, this charming story will remind all readers, both young and old, of what can be done with the childlike belief in what is possible.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Use the power of your mind to embrace the power within 4. März 2014
Von Dr. Oceanfront - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
Good child's book (net download). A lesson in helping children believe in how extraordinary they are.

At the age of 5 Saje had developed a rash on her face that lasted two years. Rather then take standard medical treatment, which was very harsh for a child, at night she would go under her sheets and talk to her "bumps". She told them she loved them but they could not be together anymore., and must leave. She visualize them falling off her 3 days they were gone! The power of a child's unconditional belief in her parents words (that if she believed...they would go away).

So, in this story, Saje Dyer explains to children, that changing their attitude towards a problem that is bothering them, will destroy its power over them. Nice concept. Children need to know that they can change things by changing how they think of those things. Talking to their issues is empowering, and telling them what to do (go away).

Very Wayne Dyerish...use the power of your mind, embrace life and the power within.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Powerful Children's Story 12. März 2014
Von R. L. Black - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Kindle Edition
Little Saje was five years old when bumps appeared all over her face. Her mom and dad took her to the doctor who said her only choices were to take medicine or wait and see if they would go away on their own.

But Saje's dad (Dr. Wayne Dyer) knew a secret. He knew the power of the mind to heal our bodies and when he told little Saje that she could talk to her bumps, she did just that! And guess what? The bumps left!

In this adorably illustrated book, Dr. Wayne Dyer and his daughter Saje tell the true story of what actually happened to Saje when she was a little girl and teach children that if something is bugging them, they can change it with their thoughts - and even more importantly, this story teaches that don't have to let something have power over them.

A cute story, and also a very powerful one. If you are looking for a tool to teach your child how to use the power of thoughts, this is a good one.

It's written for children 4-10 years old, but anyone of any age could learn from this story.

Reading this book to my three year old could not have came at a better time. The story behind the book relays a message to children. Not only did we get to talk about what was wrong in the book but also what is going on with my own child. I loved the part where she asked the bumps to go away. Truly, perfect timing. My daughter is most likely going to be having surgery on her eye and we have visited doctors, tried different medicines, etc. We never talked to the bump on her eye and asked it to go away. We do this every night now because she remembers how the girl in the book did that.

5.0 von 5 Sternen GREAT BOOK 11. März 2014

Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
What a great lesson to teach children. This book did a wonderful job helping kids understand that some things about themselves can be changed and others will always be with them, but what matters is how they choose to think about these things. Instead of worrying about your problem and giving it energy to continue to be a problem, Saje taught kids that giving it positive energy and forgiving the problem could help it go away. This shows children that they can make the decision and feel a sense of ownership and empowerment. It can also teach children to have a different perspective when an issue may arrive. I'm so happy to see books out there that teach this message. As these children get older, it will help with their attitude and learn to love life. They can see the good in everything that happens.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Kid-Friendly Message of Self-Empowerment 8. Juni 2014
Von anniehurley - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
I first heard Saje's story of saying good-bye to her bumps from her dad, Wayne Dyer, at an "I Can Do It. Ignite!" conference. After telling the story, Dr. Dyer mentioned that his daughter was working on a children's book to share her experience. Since then, I have been eager to read Good-Bye Bumps.

The story is very simple while conveying the key message of not allowing physical ailments to hold us back or bring us down. This is an autobiographical recount of an instance of healing during young Saje's life, illustrated with caricatures of her and her dad at the time. Saje had bumps on her face that made her feel bad, and her dad told her to talk out loud to the bumps and tell them that she was ready for them to leave.

As a child with belief in miracles and the unseen, she did just that with a flashlight and a mirror under a blanket, telling her bumps good-bye. After a week of instructing the bumps to go on their merry way, Saje was delighted to find that they had vanished from her face.

The book responsibly acknowledges that there are many conditions affecting children that are permanent or irreversible. Rather than promising that this technique is a cure-all for every affliction, Good-bye Bumps focuses on our ability to take back the power we give to our physical characteristics we may be less than thrilled about. We do not have to feel bad about the issues with our bodies. We can choose to stop letting undesirable physical traits bring us down, and move on with the good things in life.

At the end of the book, there is a short, kid-friendly checklist summarizing the steps to reclaiming our power and letting go of feeling bad. The book is short and to the point, and does a great job of inspiring hope while keeping everything in perspective.

The caricature of Wayne Dyer as a young dad almost looks too young, while the caricature of young Saje makes her look quite grown-up. Nonetheless, the scenes are cute and beautifully drawn. This book would be great for a parent with a child who is fixated on or slightly down over a physical characteristic they wish they could change. Come to think of it, there are many adults who could use this bit of inspiration too!
