I too spent this Tuesday afternoon eyes deep in this book and was not disappointed. Here I thought that I would start it and finish it later after doing some errands. I should have known that with Jackie Collins and The Santangelo Clan that wasn't going to be possible.
This book was great. The story moved quickly,all the characters were connected in some way(old friends reappear)and it was intriguing. I must say half way through I wanted to get to the end because I couldn't wait to see how it was going to end. I will say that Max (Lucky's daughter) was a bit annoying and a spoiled brat. It was surprising that so far none of Lucky's children are as tough as she was in all the previous Lucky novels. Yes I know Max is only 18 but Lucky was a tough broad at that age and Bobby is hot but lacks the killer instinct. Maybe because both his parents were hard core. I guess it's a little unfair but I love the Lucky character so much that I was hoping one of her children (specifically Max)would be a carbon copy with a softer edge.
I will say that I was kinda disappointed that Gino didn't play a larger role but hey he is getting old and I did miss Bridget. I love this family of characters, I only wish Ms. Collins wouldn't make us wait so long between books.
Ms Collins please give us another Lucky Santangelo or a Santangelo novel and please don't make us wait another 2 years for it.

Loved the characters but the repetitiveness was too much

I love the world Jackie has created with the Santangelos but she repeats the same sentences over and over again. I swear, in one scene "Don't F@#! with a Santangelo" was said almost ten times.
Also, if the Santangelo family was celebrating Max's 18th Birthday... where was Steven??

"Now This Is Great Stuff"

I have spent my entire Tuesday afternoon, not watching soap operas (as most of them suck in terms of storytelling), not watching a good old Joan Crawford movie, but reading Jackie Collin's new book, "Goddess of Vengence" (her 27th). I have read it in one entire day, mainly because my back is out and I simply couldn't put it down. The book is one of Jackie's best works, not just because all of the ingredients that make a Collin's novel superb are here, but because she brings back her greatest heroine, Lucky. Lucky is now a highly prominent Las Vegas business woman running a successful hotel and casino. She's married here to a man well past his prime who's writing and directing indies, her two kids Maxi and Bobby are highly featured with their own well-told stories of romance and greed, and like any good Jackie Collin's book there's an evil villin who's hell bent on destroying Lucky's empire when things don't go his own way.
Out of all the characters in "Goddess of Vengence" I love Maxi, really a carbon copy of her mom, but more ruthless and determined to make it in a man's world, attributes she no doubt learned from her mother.
The men are sexy, the women are independent, and the stories here are A+. You will love this novel and if you haven't read any Jackie Collin's books yet you will become hooked.
