Kurzbeschreibung
This book is the second in the What My Life Is Like Series and it experiences the dubious honor of being the first book written and the second in the series. In this book there are poems and essays and letters and a story. You will find an author here struggling to understand this new Kindle Platform and dabbling in the art of self publishing.
The thing about publishing is , once you start publishing you start thinking about publishing and you want to publish more. You begin to take on this otherworldly viewpoint that dissolves into these digital files that you place for sale in this world that we see around us.
I want you to read my writing so that you can decide if you want to get to know me. Do you want to be a part of my life? Do you want to know my intimate secrets and desires? How much do you want to know about a human being? An author can provide you with the kind of depth that some of you are looking for. Reading is not for shallow people and writing is not for anyone who doesn't have a mountain to share with the planet. If you want to know how to move a mountain the first thing you have to do is realize that it is moving already and at that point you are part of the moving mountain and then you have to decide how much faster than how it already is do you want to move that mountain?
I stand harnessing the world at my fingertips and from these finger tips I tap dance through my thoughts and say poetic combinations of letter that amount to a dervish dance through existence. The mind is endlessly generating new output from the endless new input.
I try to be a poet. I sit down and I try and write poetry. I try. I try to write sentences that turn into paragraphs that turn into pages that turn into books. That is how I write my books. I sit and I write them out. Its the ancient secret about the journey of a thousand miles starting with a single step, well I take those steps and then I walk back.
My name is Nicholas Lawson and I am a college graduate of the University of Cincinnati and I am meant to write and create for a living. I am glad I went to college because if I hadn't I would probably be selling weed to my friends by now and trying to be a rapper but I did go to college and so instead I am writing this poetry and trying to impress Giselle Grayson and trying to sell earn a living sharing my words with you. How do you feel about poetry? Not academic poetry and not weak poetry but strong masculine poetry from a blue collar work ethic? How do you feel about poetry from a man? From a man that has seen terrible troubles? How do you feel about essays about life from a man that has much to say about little? How do you feel about writing about esoteric ideas like women and love? I write about that.
My writing may seem new and different but that is only because I am new and different myself. This is my first time seeing the sun at the age of 31 and this is the first time I have ever been an author for Amazon.com and I applaud all the efforts that have gone into my being able to share my writing with you for without this medium I would have to go from publisher to publisher seeking outlets for my writing and having them wind up in book stores.
I trust this new medium and am hoping that my dreams of child hood are not dashed as we embark upon a new outlet for creative expression and hopefully you find me and want to discuss with my what you think about my writing.
I want this writing to open your eyes to what is possible and let you know that depth still exists in the eyes and minds of those that have the wisdom to share such things. Like a monk from a neil stephenson novel I am shedding light on my eyes and showing you what exactly I see when I look out into this world. Who are you? Who am I? Who are we when we engage in the art of literary engagement? My job is to woo you too me and your job is to be wooed. Can you love a writer like me? Can you fall in love with me and help me fall in love with you.
