3.0 von 5 Sternen Odd, but somehow entertaining 6. Juni 2012
Von Boris
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
I never really could relate to the character of the Ghost Rider. He was - how shall I phrase it - too 70s for me. A man with a flaming skull on a motor-bicycle, you never would have thought this would get a movie starring Nicolas Cage. - Oh, he has been played by Cage, you say? Never mind! Well, I recently stumbled over Jason Aaron, writer sublime. And he takes this character, no, both these characters, Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch, and brings them into the 21st century. (Mild spoilers ahead:) Although the Ghost Riders always thought that their status came out of a pact with the devil their gift is rather celestial. But one of the most powerful angels, Zadkiel is conspiring against God Almighty himself. So the Ghost Riders have to save Heaven and Earth. They do this helped by some and opposed by others. You really have to get used to all those characters from Old Testament and Talmud come alive, but if you get used to it there is an entertaining story with nuns wearing machine guns and all sort of odd characters. Just have fun! The collection contains Ghost Rider (2006) #20-35 and Ghost Riders: Heaven's On Fire #1-6, which is Aaron's complete run.
The art by Roland Boschi, Tan Eng Huat and Tony Moore is not outstanding, but it supports the story, although it is a little bit too slow burn, too de-compressed for me. All those guys evidently like to draw a man with a flaming skull on a motor-bike on a splash page.
Some help to decide to buy this book is a price for a hardcover that still makes one single issue cheaper than when it originally appeared.

5.0 von 5 Sternen The best Ghost Rider comics in years 4. Januar 2011
Von N. Durham - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
When Jason Aaron (Scalped, Wolverine) took over the writing duties for Ghost Rider, he became saddled with one of Marvel's more maligned characters over the years. Needless to say, what he accomplishes with him is nothing short of a miracle, as Aaron uses nearly every bit of previous Ghost Rider continuity and mythos to his advantage to craft a grindhouse-esque saga of the damned Johnny Blaze. After learning he's been an unwitting pawn in the plot of rogue angel Zadkiel, Blaze takes on all comers as war prepares to strike in Heaven. In the mix are Blaze's estranged brother Danny Ketch (the 90s Ghost Rider), a new Caretaker, nunchuk-wielding nuns, Blackout, The Orb, Hellstorm, a new Vengeance and more besides. There's more to the overall story than what I've described here, but I simply can't do it justice enough. Darkly funny and startlingly violent, Jason Aaron made Ghost Rider worthwhile again, and this nice Omnibus is the best eay to experience it all. The only downside to Aaron's opus is the inconsistent artwork from the revolving team of Roland Boschi, Tony Moore, and Tan Eng Huat; but this is only a minor gripe at best. All in all, if you missed out on Jason Aaron's Ghost Rider run, now is your chace to experience it in full. You'll be happy that you did.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Ghost Bomb! 3. Februar 2012
Von Max Michaels - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
Jason Aaron gets it. Ghost Rider is an absolutely over-the-top concept: a bastard child of the 70s stunt cycle and Satanism horror movie craze, and probably not something to be taken too seriously. This collection contains Aaron's entire run on the title, and features almost everything that the Ghost Rider fan could possibly crave: road zombies, ninja nuns, hillbilly cannibals, demonic truckers, the all new Orb, Son of Satan, the return of Danny Ketch, and a goddamned motorcycle race around the world. The book was a good, ol' fashioned, flaming skull-headed HOOT, that gives many nods to Ghost Rider's past, while also introducing some wild new concepts to the character's story. The ending may seem a bit rushed for y'know . . . A WAR AGAINST HEAVEN, but I imagine that was a result of the title being cancelled prematurely. Still, its a fun book and really affordable compared to many of Marvel's omnibus volumes.
5.0 von 5 Sternen One of the best (if little known) Marvel series in recent memory 16. April 2013
Von GSD - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
Jason Aaron is probably best known for his own series, Scalped, as well as Wolvwerine and Wolverine and the X-men at Marvel. When he did Ghost Rider however, he showed just how good of writer he is by crafting what is probably the best story of the Flame-head since the early comics featuring Danny Ketch as the Rider. The writer uses a lot of previous Ghost Rider continuity to tell one HELL of a story. There is a stark and violent quality to the tale that is part horror, part spirituality and all action. It is safe to say that Jason Aaron made Ghost Rider worthwhile again. The inconsistent artwork from the revolving team of Roland Boschi, Tony Moore, and Tan Eng Huat is a minor bother but all in all, if you missed out on Jason Aaron's Ghost Rider run, now is your chance to experience it in full. One of the best Ghost Rider stories of all time!
