This book is cool, and really mysterious, but I think it could have had a better ending. overall, it's a pretty good book :] .

2.0 von 5 Sternen Interesting, but not very exciting 1. August 2000
Von Ein Kunde
Format:Taschenbuch
I first read Gallow's Hill a little over a year ago and i just picked it up to read again today and it barly held my interest. I mean, when i first read it, it was alright but i really think that Lois Duncan can do much better . This was not one of her greatest books. I really didnt like the ending to much, it didn't close right. All i was thinking was,"that was it,what was the point." If you want to read a book by Lois Duncan, read Daughters Of Eve, or Down A Dark Hall, those were excellent books. You can read Gallows Hill if you want to, but don't be surprised if you are massivly dissapointed.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Great Book......Okay for Lois 10. Juni 2000
Von Ein Kunde
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
Lois Duncan is my fave author ever, and I've read almost all of her books. This one was good, but definately not her best. She writes the town very well. The way she describes the lives and secret lives of the families is interesting. Again, full of suspence, and a very intriguing story line. I own the book, and might read it again someday. I don't really believe in reincarnation, but I am very open minded, and just pretended. She uses a lot of facts, I like that. If you don't know a lot about the Salem Witch Trials, I would read up on it some before you start reading this book. Overall, it was a good read.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Hey...So Is Life 12. Mai 2000
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
I read it. I dealt with it. I have read better. I have read worse. So is life. This story follows vaguely the type of subject of ' a gift of magic'(i mean that EXTREMELY loosely) but wasn't nearly as good. I enjoyed the book and it's subject but it was vague and standoff-ish..because it didn't get you involved in the characters...A gift of Magic was much better...it is still worth a read..if only to make you think (though i would not recommend it to people who are very strong in there faith and find the idea of reincarnation revolting...)

this was one of Lois's best books, in my opinion. it kept me going, especially at the end, like most suspence books. this was one of my favorites along with Summer of Fear, the first book i read by Lois Duncan. i definantly recommend this book, Gallow's Hill

4.0 von 5 Sternen Mystreious and Creepy and yet- I like it! 6. April 2000
Format:Taschenbuch
I haven't even finished reding this book and I love it so far! I think the characters are great and I can picture each of them so well. This is the 1st novel I've read by Lois and I think I want to read a few more. I really like the topic of this book and It keeps me reading late into the night! It's a real page turner! ( The only reason there aren't five stars is because I have not read the ending YET.)

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Bewitching Read! 24. Februar 2000
Format:Taschenbuch
This was my first Lois Duncan novel. I thought it was excellent! The book was very suspenseful and gave tons of descriptive detail, as well as lots of feelings and emotions in the characters. The story is about a girl named Sarah that has just moved from a town called Ventura,California. She moves to a small little town called Pine Crest that seems nice on the outside, but is really twisted and hidden with unbearable lies underneath. Sarah is asked to take part in a school fundraiser, a carnival and is asked to be a gypsy that tells fortunes, by the school jock. She uses an old paper weight as her glass ball, but later she discovers that she can see people's secrets and predict the future! I don't want to give the book away, but something terrible happens.. sending lies, mischeif, backstabbers, magic, and witches into the small quiet town of Pine Crest. I really enjoyed this novel, it was a great thriller! Next I will be reading one of her books that I ordered off the internet, called Daughter's of Eve. I suggest you try reading this book or one of her many novels, she is truely a GREAT writer!

2.0 von 5 Sternen Very Strange 11. Januar 2000
Von Ein Kunde
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
This book was exciting yet suspensful tale that was drawn out very long and strange. The way the events took place in this story kept it flowing.I thought that the best character was Charlie. He saved Sarah and I think it as daring of him to do that. The reason why the book was strange was because of the Reincarnation. The book was drawn out because the same events happend a lot or to many examples. This book wasn't the best book I've ever read but it gave me a great view on the Salem Witch craft trails.
