very helpful 5. April 2013

This book was a big help in planning our trip to DC. I especially loved that it helped us find the "secret" cafeteria in the Library of Congress building - much quicker, cheaper, and yummier than museum fare, and a good view to boot!

2010 version outdated, missing critical info for young kids 1. September 2013

2010 version outdated, missing critical info for young kids

We're in DC right now, so I have some fresh review for this book. Ordered it just three week ago from Amazon, but realized it is a 2010 version because a few things on there we tried to follow failed terribly. For example, the book recommend Tourmobile, but when we get to Union Station there was no Tourmobile stops. The phone number got me to some oral surgery office. We end up taking a different bus tour. For the Zoo, it fail to warn parents that it is in the middle of two Metro stops, it's three to four blocks walk from either one. But any parent in DC would tell you to get off at Cleveland Park going to the Zoo, and get on at Woodley-Park Zoo stop returning, because both ways would be going downhill which would be very helpful for young kids. And the Cone E Island place's address was totally wrong! I can only hope the 2012 version correct a lot of the mistakes, but I'd caution do your own research, parents.

Great advice for visiting DC attractions with children. Found the description of each attraction and suggested age groups most helpful.

Great recommendations 8. Oktober 2012

I purchased this book to give us a few ideas of what to plan in DC to keep our 8year old granddaughter interested. We've ended up planning the whole trip with it. We've book our hotel and planned our days around the recommendations made in this book. We found things of special interest that we didn't even know about. Her huge interest right now is spies! We had never heard of a spy museum but there is one very close to our hotel! She doesn't know yet ... we're saving it for a surprise! Great book!
Full of information but dense 16. Juli 2013

Great information on the best hotels for families and in-depth information on many sites to see. But with no pictures it was hard to find time to read it and interest my 7-year-old in looking through it. I found Fodor's Around Washington, DC, with Kids, much easier to use and lighter to carry. My son also picked it up a few times and leafed through it.
