light travel book that fits in your pocket 22. November 2011
Von eric h - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I like the day-by-day books from Frommer. I have now 3 of them. It is a great book to use when you are spending only a few days in a location. It is not meant as a complete travel book to tell you all the history of each place, but a quick summary for each place.
pro: light, fits in your pocket, useful basic information, nice pictures.
cons:the map included in the plastic pocket in the back is not really useful. I ditched it for a tourist map found at the airport.

Poor organization, poor maps 17. Januar 2012
Von J. Wang - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I really had high hopes for this guide. It is indeed easily pocketed and contains many good suggestions. However, if you venture beyond the six suggested itineraries, the guide becomes very frustrating:

1. Outside of the suggested itineraries, the maps are inaccurate and useless. At one point in my trip I was looking for a restaurant mentioned in the guide and was shocked to see it listed on two separate maps in two different places! The street maps only have the names of the largest streets. They also arbitrarily include some small streets but not others, and as a result you cannot orient yourself. Because of the terrible maps I was often left to travel to the vicinity of an attraction and wander around aimlessly searching all the streets until I found the suggested restaurant or shop.

2. Not only are the maps poor and inaccurate, the addresses of attractions are wrong! The poor quality of the maps might be somewhat ameliorated by at least accurate addresses so you could go to the right street and look for the right street number, but this is sadly not the case. The street name and number given did not match the signs on the ground, so I was left to look at stores' signs and try to match the Hanggul to that given in the book.

3. Yet this was difficult too, as the Hanggul names of the attractions are only included on the map page (which taunts you with its uselessness and doesn't even include all the attractions) and not the page describing the attraction. Compare to the Lonely Planet city guides which have the native language and the romanization printed next to the description. This is a much better arrangement if you are stuck wandering around looking for the attraction because you are lost.

4. Instead of being organized by neighborhood or location, the guide is organized by type of attraction and by suggested itinerary. This is nice if you are following the suggested itinerary, but let's say you're on the suggested walk in Itaewon and want to check out a store mentioned in another part of the guide. Too bad, you have to flip over to another section to look at the "shopping" map. Get hungry? Too bad, you need to flip over to another section to look at the "dining" map.

I give the book two stars instead of one because the suggested itineraries are good and the recommendations were also quite good, if you could find them.

This book was awesome for my trip! 27. Juli 2013
Von Tiffany J Mayfield - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
I carried this book in my purse every day I was in Seoul. The subway map was priceless for me. All of the sights that we wanted to see had exactly where we wanted to go and always got us there. I had a different book for when we went to Tokyo and it was terrible in comparison to this book. I would highly suggest this book for traveling!

nice recap of seoul 25. Juni 2013
Von WPM - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
it was my first time visiting seoul this year and i bought this book at my main resource since i was only going to be there for 4 days and had limited time to do too much. i read this whole book before i went and mapped out what i was going to do on each day based on the books suggestion's, maps etc. i really like the way they broke the chapters down to how much time you can spend there and the things you should see. though we didn't follow it completely, it gave us a lot of great little nuggets of information. as with any travel book, the findings are subjective and recommendations are personal but overall, the author put together some good info. i will use again in the future when i visit seoul again.

Very helpful Guide since not much English on signs in Seoul 30. Dezember 2012
Von Wise Owl - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Only wish there would have been more Korea characters beside the English equivalent on the maps. I supplemented this book with local maps. English alphabet eqivalent is not on many signs in Seoul, so one really needs guidebook like this one.
