5.0 von 5 Sternen Informative 3. April 2012

This book has everything you would want to know about Chile and Easter Island. It includes reviews of some of the biggest attractions in each city(mainly they tell you if the site is worth seeing). They also list hotels and places to eat according to price. There are also good tips about traveling in each city and how best to get around whether it be via bus or walking. Very good purchase if you are traveling to Chile and need some travel advice!

This guide has all the basic necessary information and it is useful for the first trip plan, but when you want to go to the details, than it lacks information. It is just a good start for your plan, but you will need extra source of information for a better trip planning.

I bought this book for my several month trip around Chile and because it was updated in 2011 therefore making it more current than the current release of Lonely Planet. I should have just bought the Lonely Planet. It's missing several cities - Concepcion (2nd largest city in Chile), Valdivia, Pichilemu, and probably more but after it being completely useless for the first few cities, I chucked it. These are not insignificant places and have their fair share of tourists but wasn't even in the book. Not only that, but they offer very few budget options. I will only buy Lonely Planet from here on out.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Not for the budget traveler 21. Februar 2012
Von Jonathan S. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

This guidebook is ok (not great but better than nothing), but it is not intended for the budget traveler. If you are looking to spend less than $100/night in Chile (lodging for two), this is not the guide book for you. Most towns have few, or no options for inexpensive lodging listed. The restaurant guide also seems to lean toward the expensive side. The maps and general information about cities and activities are ok, but sometimes a little slim (For instance, couldn't find a section about Concepcion, one of the largest cities in Chile. Also couldn't always find helpful info like the location of local laundry services). I've always bought Lonely Planet guide books before this. I only bought this guidebook because it was more recently updated than the LP Chile guide. However, after using this book on my Chile trip, I wish I had bought the older LP guide.

A lot of information thrown into this book. Overall it's a pretty good book. With so many information online now in terms of hotels, places to eat, etc. this book does not give much detailed information about that.
