"Franklin's Nickname" is a Franklin TV Storybook based on a Franklin TV story by the same name, written by Frank Diteljan. The adaptation is written by Sharon Jennings and while it significantly deviates from the TV plot, it's still a neat story.
Franklin's class is doing a project about famous athletes. Franklin decides he wants to be a famous athlete too and figures that he needs a cool nickname to match. He decides on Flash and tells all his friends. They disagree with the nickname and give him a new one that's not very nice. Then, at home, nobody remembers his nickname except his little sister and she can't pronounce it correctly. Franklin sets out to prove to his friends that his new nickname suits him.
This story is quite different from the TV version. In the TV version, Bear is given a rude nickname too and things turn out quite differently. Also, Harriet isn't in the story as she wasn't part of the TV series at the time. Normally, I am opposed to this type of editing. However, this story has such a funny ending that I was pleased to read something that surprised me.
