okay, third book. Develops the plot and characters very nicely and still adds more innovative ideas on the way. It is hard to fault the style of writing of Salvatore - it drags you into the story, makes you feel for the characters (good or bad), and leaves you wanting more. Not a predictable series, not a put-downable series. Worth the money and time investment over three books. Certainly look out for any more Salvatore work. Normally I try not to rate in the Fives, but this is worthwhile. Not only for people who play role-playing games, these are not books that cannot be read by outsiders to gaming fantasy. These stand up well against such classics as Wizard of Earthsea and Lord of the Rings - but don't expect the same style of writing. Easier to get into and through.
