Kurzbeschreibung

When Delanie Carlyle wakes in the hospital after a car accident, she discovers she cannot remember the past month of her life…and to her dismay, she’s newly pregnant. With no husband or lover in her life, she must take care of her child alone and then an elderly friend dies and she must deal with the complications presented by a large, unexpected inheritance.

Eighteen months later, Mitchell Riese meets again the woman who has stolen half his inheritance. Delanie knew who Mitchell was when she fell into conversation with the dark, handsome tycoon at a cocktail party celebrating the re-opening of his grandfather’s historic resort. She has supervised the restoration of the massive turn-of-the-century hotel and, in the process, has earned the fond affection of the irascible, elderly Donovan Riese.

Mischievously, Delanie parries Mitchell’s attempts to learn her name. But somewhere between the casual conversation and the sparkling champagne, she falls instantaneously, head-overin love with Donovan Riese’s sexy grandson. After a night of glorious passion, she wakes and slips away from his bed, still awash in the glow of finally having found her soul mate.

At breakfast later that morning, Delanie waits with teasing expectancy when Donovan introduces her to his grandson, Mitchell. When the man she thought was her hero viciously attacks her for supposedly taking advantage of his grandfather, Delanie runs away, only to crash her car in her distress and wake up...having forgotten with whom she made a baby.

Meh... 2. Dezember 2011

This book did not do it for me. The hero seemed like a judgemental sleaze ball with a "my way or the highway" lean. He made assumptions about the heroine without consulting anyone or even common sense, everything like that should have been verifiable. And he's supposed to be a successful business man? And the heroine is a doormat to let him off the hook like that once she figures it all out. Left me shaking my head.

Predictable and characters were terrible 10. Dezember 2011

I know romance writers want to give us a happy ending but do they have to give us the SAME old romance story time and again? I can't recommend this. Woman falls in love at first sight. She never even gave the man her name & she's supposed to be in love. Seriously? The reunite 18 months later. She has amnesia. He detests her because he believes she is a money hungry schemer who has stolen his inheritance and was his grandfather's mistress. They spend the next several months falling for each other.

Now here is where I have a problem. The author says the male lead distrusts all women. His mother sold him to his father so he doesn't think women can be trusted and feels all women are only interested in money. Every thought he has is how to manipulate the situation so he can get what he wants. Even when he appears to be comforting the female lead over the death of her father he's secretly thinking about how to use the information to his advantage. He distrusts all women and he constantly feels the female lead is lying to him. He thinks she is trying to get money out of him or get something from him. Even the female lead says he is "unlovable." The author does not give him any redeeming qualities unless you consider being good looking and a good lover redeeming qualities. I don't feel those qualities kept him from being a horrible human being.

So I didn't WANT the female lead to be with this man. At the end of the book he suddenly realized he'd been wrong about her and wanted to turn his life around? No. The author established that the father damaged this character. His first girlfriend damaged him. He's been bitter and angry his whole life. I'm sorry to be a realist but it doesn't happen this way. The author should've given the male lead some good qualities (at least ONE) that would've made him likable. Because I hated him throughout this book and I didn't want to see him end up with the female at the end and I didn't believe this complete turn around.

Too predictable of a romance and the male lead was a despicable man.

Same old story. 5. Dezember 2011

Spoilers in this review!

The plot of this story is not a new one--boy meets girl, girl falls in love at first sight/boy falls in lust at 1st sight. They have relations, boy thinks girl is a gold-digger, boots her out, she is pregnant, yet has amnesia? Boy and girl meet again, blah blah blah.

The first chapter was probably the best. The way the author wrote the opening scene between the two of them, you felt such wonderful chemistry. But it really just went downhill from there for me. The story was predictable, to say the least, which made it boring. The characters weren't interesting enough, they were cookie-cutter romance novel characters--guy is overbearing jerk, girl is strong except around him. And of course, she manages to change him completely. Riiight.

I had to force myself to finish this, hoping that the author would insert some of the good writing that she had in the 1st chapter, but alas, it was not to be. Disappointing.

All in all, worth the read if you have nothing else, but I wouldn't pay for this book.
