From USA TODAY Bestselling Author, C. L. Stone, read Forgiveness and Permission, the fourth book in The Academy Ghost Bird Series.

Sang Sorenson's abusive mother is secure in a hospital, and her father has vanished to a new family of his own, leaving Sang and her sister to fend for themselves. Sang is hanging by a thread, and her only hope is a group of boys she feels she barely knows.

She's never really alone. The Academy team has stepped in, promising to protect and care for Sang. Kota, Victor, Silas, Nathan, Gabriel, Luke and North take over, showing Sang they can be depended on for anything. But just because the parents are away, doesn't mean Sang's life has become any easier.

The newfound freedom will have a higher price than any of them had imagined.

Principal Hendricks now wants to use Sang to exploit Academy secrets. Mr. McCoy has his own dark plans for her. Enemies are closing in. Sang will need to learn to believe in the boys, and the boys will need to learn to trust her if they want to survive their rivals.

And each other.

What do I say? It's all so plausible, that it's mind-blowing! I can see myself in Sang's situation, being bullied by a paranoid mother, now being bullied by her school's administration. Throw in daddy issues and sibling rivalry (that's what I saw anyway), and how could she not value the attention, affection, and friendship offered by the guys? She's 15, lonely, sooooo innocent and gullible, and just now able to come out of her shell because her craaazzzaaaayyy mama (can't forgive her for that shower scene) is in a hospital somewhere. Yeah you remember those days, when you first start to question the world around you but also want to please all your buddies. And Sang is the biggest people-pleaser of them all, you know those types: they don't say no to anyone, and they let everyone walk all over them. I just wanted to get in there, be her bff and slap some good old common sense into her. But good thing Mr. Blackbourne is there to inject some strength into her backbone.

So let's get to it, the attraction to seven, possibly nine guys, realistic? HELL YEAH! (Mostly only true for this series, but I'm sure y'all will lemme know if there's other good ones out there.) And let me say that I hate, absolutely HATE love triangles, and this is some sort of mutated love polygon or should I say love decagon (whispers thanks to Kota). The way this story is woven together with the personalities of the guys, mixed with every day high school problems and secret Academy espionage business, it so totally works for this series. In this book, you get more of an in-depth look into most of the guys and the workings of Sang's mind. This group is a family, and they share everything. Nathan tells her that The Academy's boot camp showed them how to overcome unnecessary everyday gripes in order to recognize needs and be able to depend on one another. If he needs a car, he can borrow Victor's or Kota's. If he needs a place to crash, any one of the guys' houses is available. Family is a choice, and they choose to be together and help each other with everything. Family first, The Academy second! This lead to the big "Oh, that's why they're not jealous!" moment in which I became eternally grateful to the author and sent her air kisses and hugs. Sang's been so abused and she's deserving of any one of the guys, but without another female friend/mentor, I'm glad there was no jealousy displayed among the guys to discourage her even more. Some jealousy is addressed and Sang gets to see it from a male and female perspective. Yep, our sweet little princess has gotta grow up some time.

The reason I love this series is that it could totally happen in the real world. Back! Back you! (to all those vampires and werewolves amazon keeps suggesting) Remember being so young and checking out every hot guy that passed by wondering, "Is he the one? Will he love me no matter what? What do I do? How do I act? Does he like me? Or are we just friends?" I admit, I drooled a lot, actually fanned myself, and literally stopped breathing several times. But that's ok, because I read this well into the night so that I could finish it, so I fan-girled in private, thank you very much. Anyway, it was so fun to see how the guys were trying to get Sang to kiss them. As you will recall, from the last book, they are only allowed to touch her in a way that they have previously done so, and the only way to move forward with her is if Sang initiates. I was glad she was so innocent in the ways of relationships because I loved seeing the creative methods the guys came up with to be nearer to her and how they hinted at wanting a kiss. Of course sexual tension rules say we must suffer until Sang gets a romantic epiphany, so I sighed and aaahhed, and hugged my e-reader (like he was the guy of the moment).

The Academy: Forgiveness and Permission (Year 1, Book 4)

1. Know more of how Sang thinks.
2. Getting up close and personal with some of the guys. (swoooon)
3. Realistic High School issues

1. This book is part of an 8-book series (waaahhhh, I don't wanna wait that long)
2. These lines made me sad and think too much: "The hardest part was admitting to myself that if I really liked one of them, knowing that if we really started dating, I'd have to let go of the others. And I felt the lure every time they called, touched, or said my name."

I don't want to give too much away because I know you love squealing at surprise revelations too, but the last chapter was jaw-droppingly beyond belief (although, I was secretly wishing for something like it all along, haha). So in conclusion, read this book, your romantic daydreams depend on it! Gonna go shop with Gabriel and then swim with the guys now, tootles.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Ugh, so many things wrong with this story. 8. November 2013

I was really looking forward to this book and liked some aspects of it, but many I found disturbing. I hated pretty much every scene with North, which bothers me because in the prior books I was kind of hoping that's who Sang would end up with. First the part where he was drugged was extremely disturbing to me. He acted like he was going to rape her. Then throughout the rest of the book he kept yelling at her and demanding she do or not do things. As someone that was abused I just found this to be so wrong. Sure, he had excuses, he was drugged, he was worried, he hasn't had any rest, but guess what? Every other abuser in this world has excuses for their behaviour too.
Also, I really think by book four there shouldn't be quite so many secrets. You still don't know much of anything about the academy or what is going on at the high school. It almost feels like the author is making things up as he/she goes along. You can only milk the big secret thing for so long before people get tired of it and move on.
The finger biting thing? Stupid. The holding a hand over Sangs mouth to kiss her? Stupid. The polygomy thing at the end of the book? So stupid I could cry. Do they really expect to take turns with this girl forever? Gross. I just can't even. The fact that Sang didn't know her sister hasn't been going to school? Nice way to show what a caring person you are.
I just really hope that the next book Sang can grow a backbone and quit waiting on a bunch of teenage boys to tell her when she can or cannot do something.

Let me start off by saying I am 100 percent addicted to this series. I want to go all fan girl on CL and give her a big hug and kiss on the cheek for giving me something so different from the norm. These books are different. The direction they are heading is different and even though I wasn't so sure about it she's given me a reason to want to follow it through.

In this book Sang and her sister are on there own, crazy mom is in a hospital and the father has abandoned them both. Each one of these books has had an underlying theme and in this one it's trust. Sang must learn to trust the boys with everything and it's not an easy thing to do. She wants into the Academy. She thinks once she's in she will understand the boys better and feel like she is truly a part of this family they keep telling her she is in. The thing is she's got it backward. This group really is "Family First Academy Second" There is also more of an underlying current of romance in this book then in the other three. Each of the boys is ready to move Sang into dating but the order says she's got to make the move. Each boy has his own unique way of showing Sang what she means to them and the Author makes some of the most innocent touches so much more My heart pounded sure he would kiss me. I waited. Only he didn't he did something unexpected and better. His nose traced over the side of my nose, across my cheek. Hovering right there. So Close. Where his nose trailed, my heart followed. Each one of the boys is something different to her but equally as important. Kota, "The boss." North, "The fierce, ever vigilant watchman." Mr.Blackbourne "Of all the boys in the group, I never imagined Mr. Blackbourne being the one to understand me so well. Someone I could trust to talk to me, to tell me the answers."

This book was more about establishing the perimeters of the relationships between the characters. Not only teaching Sang to continue to open up and trust the boys but that they too needed to trust her abilities and her judgment. Even if that meant arguing or yelling. "Yes. You had the right idea. You need to continue to argue back. Listen to that he has to say and if you disagree, speak up and say so, He'll listen." He yell's to show he cares about you." "What if he doesn't care?" "He won't talk to you." I think that is a hard lesson for anyone to learn even outside of a book. Just because I disagree with someone doesn't mean I don't like them or care for them. Actually it's the opposite. If I didn't care I wouldn't bother.

There is still so much to figure out and I am looking forward to the next books in the series. I love that she mixes the mystery of The Academy with the dynamics of the relationships. Sang is still a target at school and it isn't just from the students anymore. I have enjoyed seeing each of the characters. especially Sang evolve into a someone I can feel for. See that's the deciding factor for me with a book. I want to be invested in the characters by the time I'm done. I want to crave the rest of the story. I want to be excited because the Author hasn't shown her entire hand yet. and This series delivers all of that and a little something extra. I have always had my heart set on North, call me biased but I love the guys who are rough around the edges and a little bit harder to get close to but that have that larger than life heart on the inside. Heck I married one! However as this series continues I find that like Sang I can see something I love about each one. I get the mixed up feelings and the way she can't let any of them go. It's not like a triangle where your loyalties are divided. It's like all of them make a whole. That it wouldn't work right without the others just like any other family. The fact that they are all smokin hot doesn't hurt either. Again I say start at the beginning if you haven't read the first 3 books go get em, do it now! I am so hooked on this one and I want you all to join me on the ride :-)

1.0 von 5 Sternen Really??? 19. Februar 2014

Don't read unless you've already read the book!!!

The series is addicting, but so disappointed with the last chapter, and how the series seems to be going in general. I get erotic literature, BIG fan of it. What was brought up at the end of this book, is pretty ridiculous, realistically. Nine guys to one GIRL??? Yes, GIRL, because she is 15 going on 16, not even fully formed yet (as per Kota's description when he saw her in the bathroom camera). I had a feeling this book was really about a Submissive and her 'Dominants', but thought, no, I must be wrong because it's set in high school. How right I was!!!

I REALLY like North and his character. I was hoping their connection would win out in the end. What makes the Academy so special??? I don't get it. It's never explained. What's the big pull? I job should be a job, and your life separate. They are in high school, they shouldn't have to decide for the rest of their life big decisions like this!!! Have Sang have a normal first kiss - not that she does yet in this book... I liked where her character is going, getting stronger, more independent, but not if it's to be the chick who eventually bangs 9 guys for the rest of her Academy 'Life'. Kota is sweet, but doesn't do it for me. Victor is my second runner up.

I think it's disturbing - and should be for anyone who was 15-16, or who has a daughter that age.
