Kurzbeschreibung

London, 1802

Lady Augustine Jane Ascott longs for a man who will do more than offer his hand in marriage. She wants a husband she can trust, someone who will shield her from the darkness of the world. Her heart was broken when her little brother was kidnapped years earlier, and she still carries the pain of his loss.

When the handsome Duke of Wentworth makes his feelings for her known, Augustine's past demons warn her away. Besides, every woman in London knows he's devoted to the memory of his late wife. But is it possible he cares for her after all—and that their love can bring them the peace they both crave?

Why Bother? 4. März 2012
Von Sunshine - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
ITs not a book, its not a novella - it is so short, so incomplete that it leaves you wondering "Why bother reading anything else by this author"

I would feel more than cheated by paying for this - mostly due to the fact the author expects you to go to her website to get the prequel to the prequel (IF you are to believe that Forever mine is a prequel to this so called Rumor Series)

since the author didnt bother to develop characters that I care about (mainly due to the fact this is so short - seriously short) It left me filling in the blanks on how to develop a character I'd believe in, and I'd care about - but at the end you are left to believe the story will focus on another aspect and these 2 characters "May" be mentioned later on - so dont bother caring about them.

Mind you I have paid for short "novellas" in the Regency Romance - mainly I look at them as another "epilogue" of characters I've already gotten to "know" through a true story.

This is NOT a true story - it is a trick - of the worst kind... trick you into buying more of this book -

No thank you, and I do not anticipate ever wanting to read anything by Delilah Marvelle again due to being "tricked" into downloading this book!

Author needs homework 30. Dezember 2011
Von Virginia E. Demarce - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

This annoys me. A book with an interesting plot that has so many technical errors that they kept throwing me out of the story because of the gritting of my teeth. Ms. Marvelle (or her editor and publisher, if she won't) needs to study how English titles work. The heroine, the daughter of an earl, should be addressed by everyone, from the duke down to the potboy, as Lady Firstname rather than as Lady Surname. The Lady Surname form was for a married woman (wife of a knight, baronet, baron, etc.).

Now, as for her disappearing brother. He should not be Lord Nathaniel Surname. The usage between sons and daughters of an earl was not parallel. For what it may be worth, Lord Nathaniel Surname was for younger sons of a duke (cf. Lord Peter Wimsey as written for us by Dorothy Sayers). The eldest son and heir of an earl would have gone by a courtesy title, being one of the earl's subordinate titles. Father is Firstname the Earl of Something. His surname is ordinarily omitted; he's addressed as My Lord and referred to as Something. His eldest son and heir, even as a child, will be Nathaniel baron of SomethingElse.

Please, Ms. Marvelle. Please.

A must read before jumping into the series! 29. Dezember 2011
Von Katie - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Lady Augustine is in a difficult situation with pressure to marry; yet the secrets surrounding her family prevent her from wanting to enter into a relationship. But, the Duke of Wentworth has other ideas and won't take no for an answer since Augustine is the first woman to strike his fancy since the death of his previous wife.

My heart immediately went out to Augustine because she yearns for a husband, but is haunted by the memory of her kidnapped younger brother. Her story is sad, yet her perseverance is admirable. Then there is the Duke of Wentworth who also has had his share of heartache. I loved watching how their sad histories brought these two characters together. Plus, it is incredibly hard not to fall for the dashing Duke.

The plot of this short story sets up the arc for the entire Rumor Series: the disappearance of Augustine's brother. The story reads very quickly and I was sad for it to end! Luckily, the next, full novel installment, Forever and a Day, is available for instant gratification.

Delilah Marvelle scores again with the beginning of a new historical series that is sure to please lovers of the genre! I highly recommend reading this short before jumping into the Rumor series.

There is no moving on, Augustine. There is simply acceptance of what cannot be changed. And by accepting what cannot be changed, you allow for more beautiful things to come. Such as this. Such as us. "e;

There are moments I forget the sound of his voice. It scares me. For it means he is fading from my life. I vow, however, upon all that I am, he will never fade whilst I breathe. "e;
