It is always a sheer joy to come across a cookbook that is immaculately done and worth taking the time to read. I almost passed Leigh Michaels' For the Love of Tea right by this afternoon. I can't tell you how very glad I am that I took a second look.
As the daughter of a Southern Girl, afternoon tea has always made an appearance now and then in my life, whether for a birthday party, a bridal shower, a holiday "ladies only" tea during the Christmas season or just because with all my daughters on a Sunday afternoon. Some have been most memorable - a tea party for a little girl and her friends with tiny china cups, teeny sandwiches and a cake baked in the EZ Bake Oven or that special trip to New York City to take tea at American Girl Place.
Leigh brings traditional tea parties to life with history, themes, suggestions for table settings and food, recipes, and more. Grandma has never seen a book more immaculately produced, from the interactive Table of Contents near the beginning of the book to the interactive links to the appropriate recipes for each suggested menu - and back.
The pictures are beautiful and original. (Grandma SO wants that Mad Hatter teapot!)
Grab this! You'll be delighted that you did!
Highly recommended - 6 stars out of 5!
