Spencer is in a rut. Long hours at the law firm are sucking the life out of him, and he doesn't have time or energy for a relationship. He’s lonely, horny, and itching for something new, so he tries the Market Garden, an exclusive — and expensive — brothel. Spencer isn't in the door five minutes before a cocky rentboy makes his move.

Nick isn't just any rentboy, though. He’s a Dom, he’s a sadist, and he’s everything Spencer didn't know he was missing. One night turns into more, and before long, Spencer is one of Nick’s regular clients.

Both men think they’re just scratching each other’s backs: Spencer’s exploring a submissive, masochistic side he never knew he had, and Nick is getting off and getting paid. But as time goes on, it’s clear their strictly professional arrangement . . . isn't, and if Nick has one hard limit, it’s that he doesn't get romantically entangled with his johns. The problem is, while Nick doesn't want to be owned, Spencer’s no longer content with just renting.

This series is getting better from sequel to sequel.
The only question that was on my mind after I turned the last page:

Run on the next sequel!

4 Intense Stars

--Spencer braced against the bed and forced back tears that were increasingly from pleasure more than pain.
Pleasure? From--
God, yes.

Longer than the first two books in the series combined, this book plays with deeper connections. I thought the Market Garden books might maintain the lighter, sweeter tone of the first two, but no. Instead, Witt and Voinov approached this one with more intensity, if you can believe it. One of the things they did carry over though, was the tempo of building a scene. If they're trying to get you off, they're successful. Is that saying too much?

Told from Spencer's POV, it's clear why he's attracted to Nick. What isn't completely clear is, why the sudden change in Nick? Presumably the next book will show his POV, and that should be EPIC. I find Nick a very interesting character. A beautiful, young blonde guy who's a Dom just doesn't fit my preconceived notions. Why I have preconceived notions of Doms is another topic all together.

--So strange, being this offbalance and aroused at the same time.

This BDSM tale may not suit the same audience that books 1 & 2 did; the sweeter tone isn't here but the MC's find in each other exactly what they need. I appreciate the time the authors took to get me into a headspace where I could understand how pain can enhance the moment. I love the "sparks of light" analogy and if that is truly what it's like for some, then yes; I can grasp the concept and the pull of that experience. I hope the Market Garden books choose to explore all kinds of sexual experiences, after all that's exactly what a garden should offer...variety.

--The stars are coming out.

Spencer - By day Spencer is an overworked, highly stressed attorney who needs to let go of some tension. At night, with Nick, he's a emerging masochist.

"I'll be honest here. I'm new to this." [...]
"What does two hours with Nick get me, anyway?"

Nick - We know he's a skilled Dom and a sadist. We know he's cocky and sexy as hell. But that's about it. He's still a mystery and I'm okay with that...for now.

--Nick was gone. Completely gone. A phantom who'd slipped back into the shadows, leaving only goose bumps as evidence he'd ever been there at all.

Again, I have to mention the stellar pacing of the writing. By stretching out the intro and giving us a little more insight into Spencer's world it allows the reader to find themselves in Spencer's head when he does eventually get together with Nick. And, when they do come together it's an amazing view of a very different relationship.

There is still a lot to be answered and it's difficult to see how such a relationship, with all it's obstacles could flourish, but I'm anxious to see where it goes.

--Nick, the one that slipped in and out of the bedroom like smoke under the door,...

OH yeah, I want more of that!

The story of a over worked lawyer and an indemand rent boy.

All Spencer does work work work. He is burning out quickly. He hasnt been intimate with anyone in a while. He needs a release....he needs....something.

Nick. One of Market Gardens most wanted Doms. He doles out pain and pleasure and gets off doing it.

When Spencer is dragged into Market Garden by Percy, he didn't know what to expect. He definitely didn't expect to meet Nick....and the feelings and desires he would entice.

A story of learning who you are, accepting who you are, and learning to love......all warpped up with some steamy domination!

This time we open with Spencer and Percy (the Brit scale at 100 with the names ;) ), colleagues and somewhat barely mates, and then enter: Nick. Yes, we get Nick's story here. Get ready. I mean it. Your brain is tricked into thinking you're reading a slow burn but no word is wasted - it doesn't take paragraphs or even sentences to shove you there, just a word, each word, and you're almost holding your breath, just like Spencer, as Nick does his thing... these things.

"It was quickly becoming apparent there wasn't a thing Nick did that he couldn't make sexy. Not overtly sexual, but sexy. Right down to the way his hand was arranged on the glass, like it was deliberate, even artful, every finger placed just so to make the simple gesture of picking up a drink look... elegant?"

It's difficult to find adequate words to describe the simple truth of a passage like this. I've experienced the same, noticing how a man's hand wraps around a pen or puts on a glove. Another reason I love this writing style, I can relate to the situations and feelings, simply.
And this is only the first time of several that your heart may skip a beat as a result of the interactions of these two. Yes, there are multiple. Read into that what you will. Most awesomely, it doesn't feel strange at all to be describing this even though a high priced pros club is the place where it all begins and partially resides.

I find it challenging as I'm trying not to overstate things, but you know when something creatively punches you in the gut in that incredibly satisfying way. These two were meant to write.

Balls-to-the-wall bonus: if you're a writer, looking for a spark, read something by these two and something may flip your imagination to whatever story you may be pondering.

HASH(0xa2259c6c) von 5 Sternen Very Passionate Journey of Discovery! 19. März 2013
Von Serena Yates - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Kindle Edition
The principle of "If it flies, drives, or fornicates, it's cheaper to rent it." may have made me laugh, but there is some truth to it. At least the way one of the main characters' friends sees it. And certainly, this thought has some relevance to a story about a rent boy and his client. But the focus here is the question about the point at which renting is, actually, no longer an option; and not for financial reasons, but actually on emotional grounds.

This background understanding made the story fascinating to me to begin with, but it quickly became obvious that there are other reasons. There is the slight role reversal from the "normal" fare of older Dom/younger sub, added to which Nick, the younger Dom, is also a rent boy and the (theoretically) in-charge older client, Spencer, is the sub. This leads to some interesting dynamics in their relationship. Then we have the masochistic tendencies that Spencer discovers, which (luckily) fit perfectly with Nick's sadistic traits. And finally, there is the fact we only hear from Spencer, so we know as little about what Nick is all about as Spencer does. It increased the suspense, and the questions I had, as well as the shock, when Nick reaches his hard limit and everything just - stops.

Spencer is in a professional and personal rut and super stressed. He hasn't been getting what he needs sexually for a while, and finally follows his friend's advice to visit Market Garden, an exclusive club providing rent boys for various needs. His surprise a finding Nick and having him almost read his mind is only matched by the heat that develops between them. Spencer slowly discovers that he actually likes pain, and enters an agreement with Nick for a once-a-week 'subscription' so they can explore Spencer's preferences.

Of course, that also allows Nick to truly indulge in his own fantasies, to the point where he can see the professional detachment needed in his job slip. His sudden withdrawal once that limit is crossed was as shocking to me as it as to Spencer, and the attempts at understanding that follow were interesting and showed how deeply involved the two of them really were.

The passion in this book is extremely high, and the constant surprise and delight Spencer experiences as Nick teaches him new things was wonderful. If you like your BDSM stories on the edgier side yet don't want to veer into the impersonal, if you enjoy following a true journey of discovery between a sub and a Dom with some interesting relationship dynamics thrown in, and if you're looking for a hot read with an interesting twist, then you will probably like this book.

HASH(0xa244263c) von 5 Sternen M/M BDSM with a Plot 24. März 2013
Von Sammy Loves Books - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Kindle Edition
Finally!! Some quality time with Nick!!

BDSM has so many elements. I'm more accustomed to books that focus on the Bondage/Discipline aspect but, If It Flies, focuses more on the Sadist/Masochist aspect. Nick is a natural Dom, but he is also a Sadist. He gets off sexually on the pain of others. Nick is also a somewhat jaded rentboy. Experience has taught him to never mix the business aspect with his personal life.

"Do you date at all?" Spencer asked.
"You find me a guy worth dating who's willing to date a whore, and we'll talk." The faintest hint of bitterness tinged the edges of his voice.

Spencer is a workaholic lawyer that doesn't know how to relax on the weekends. He pretty much gets bullied into a trip to the Market Garden. That visit turns into a journey of self discovery. As Spencer learns and accepts his new sexual role as a Masochist, he starts to develop feelings for Nick.

Nick is a cocky, confident, Dom, but he isn't heartless. He is not immune to Spencer's blind, submissive trust. Nick struggles with the emotions he starts to feel for his client. His Sub! This is one of my favorite quotes from Nick-

"I want to give you what I have, Spencer, and take everything from you. But that s**** not easy when there's money involved. The things I want to give you--you can't buy those. Nobody can. They aren't for sale."

Nick has a beautiful soft side, and I wanted to see more of it. Nick and Spencer just turned on the heat a little late to achieve a 5 star rating. But that was my only complaint. The writing, however, was top notch and the story was Very enjoyable.
