First, I am terribly sorry about the missing CD-ROM contents. Apparently, some communications glitch between myself and the publisher caused this. It was certainly not intentional on anyone's part.

As for who the book is aimed at: Anyone who wants to learn Flash or to learn about features of Flash that are new or unfamiliar. I would not have touted this as a book for experts, if for no other reason than that it's impossible to write a book that includes everything that daily expert users of a product add to their knowledge in the time between the time the book is written and the time that it is published. The book is an easy read, the art direction and publication quality are outstanding.

If you're NEW to Flash, this is a great book. For those of you that know NOTHING about Flash, but want to learn... this is probably the best book on Flash out there. If you're already fluent in Flash, don't waste your time, and anyway, if you're that fluent, why do you need a book? Use your imagination when it comes to designing and programming!

The missing contents from the CD is a major flaw. I spent far too much time drawing the graphics in Flash then actually following instruction from the book. Though drawing the clip arts did help establish some skill in the drawing tools of flash.
However, the instructions were sub-par. I felt as if several steps were missing and the explanations were not clear. Many of the instructions were repetitive.
I've already gone through one basic flash book. The alluring graphics in the cover and pages made it seem like I can take a step up to at least the intermediate level (the type of step one could use to get a job! ) Unfortunately, it did not.
Sorry, I'm glad I borrowed this book from a friend rather than buying it.

I bought a couple graphic design books from The Coriolis Group before. They are all not good. I read this book at the bookstore instead of wasting my money. This book is not well organized! The information inside is far less useful than many online Flash tutorial sites. Too bad there are only a few Flash book in the market and all of them are useless. Maybe this is still a new software and there are not that many smart Flash designers around.
