This high-level technical book provides a working guide to diagnosing and actually fixing the Year 2000 problem for any IS professional responsible for a smaller organization or workgroup -businesses, schools, medical offices, home offices, etc.). The book offers a brief overview of the Year 2000 problem, but then quickly moves into the details on specific categories of problems. Coverage includes the consequences resulting from problems, as well as advice on how to check if the problem affects the reader's type of organization, the various technologies--from applications of all sorts to language-specific code--that are vulnerable and how to troubleshoot problems, and, finally, how to modify and test various types of systems to ensure that the problem is solved.
