This book is good for people who are learning the basics or for FH parents who nod along while other parents are discussing the game :). It provides helpful information about plays, gear, the field, positions, etc. I started playing field hockey last year and for the first season I didn't have an idea what was going on! If you're planning on trying out for a team for the first time and don't want to look like an idiot this book is good for you. However when I read this book I had been playing for a year so I knew almost everything it had in it. The layout of this book isn't anything special and the pictures are black and white and not very clear. This book is a good information guide to knowing the sport, but if you want to get good at field hockey I would pick up a book on FH drills and a stick.
