Pressestimmen

"Fast Ladies is a fascinating new book ... lavishly illustrated." – Irish Tatler

"It is clear that lady drivers were regarded by the Press of the day as a bit of a novelty, as so many of the excellent photos used show ladies sat on the bonnet or roof of their car adjusting their make-up! It is nice to see Jowett getting a small mention in this super book." – Jowetteer

"Illustrated with exquisite period photography." – Vintage Racecar

"BOOK OF THE MONTH. Jean-François Bouzanquet has done an impressive job. Circuit racers and rally drivers are covered and there is a great selection of period photographs." – Classic & Sports Car

"This book contains some fascinating photos ... some great anecdotes too ..." – New Zealand Classic Car

"Bouzanquet interweaves into his straightforward history, narrative descriptions of a number of important races as well as identifying countless less known and diverse events that verify women’s uninterrupted interest in motorsports. Bouzanquet, in other words, demonstrates a high regard for “toutes les femmes” to whom he dedicates this book." – velocetoday.com

"As an illustrated survey of female participation in a largely male-dominated sport since before the turn of the last century, this superbly illustrated book takes some beating." – SpeedScene

"Almost 50 drivers are covered in detail while the records in the appendix are vitally interesting." – The Sacred Octagon

"This book is well worth the purchase price for no other reason than it chronicles a wealth of women race drivers largely unknown in motorsport …" – www.good-guys.com

"A veritable sage with a wealth of illustrations spanning almost a century of motor racing. here are forty unique portraits of daring, brave women who took part in speed record events, rallies and Grand Prix races." – Startline
-

"Most impressive is the picture research, which shows lesbian racer and Nazi spy Violette Morris at home and the first shot I've seen of Bob Cowell after he became Roberta ..." – Motor Sport
-

"I really enjoyed this large format book which is good value even at a cover price. if only for the wonderful 'period' photographs which abound. Buy the book and enjoy it, but if you leave it on the coffee table chain it down or it may disappear with your guests." – The Motor Cycling Club
-

"For the female and male racing enthusiasts, this book is a must for reference as well as the coffee table. The pictures are just stunning." – Chester Standard

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Jean-François Bouzanquet lived in a family where automobile was spelled with a capital A. A lifelong collector and racing driver in historic competitions, he had the good fortune to rub shoulders with such "goldmines of memory" as Jaques Potherat, Marc Nicolosi, Jean-Louis Moncet and Johnny Rives, who were to inspire in him a love of history.

One of a kind book 7. Februar 2010

One of a kind book on female race drivers. Great photos and text. A little pricey for the number of pages and could use more American drivers as there were quite a few from the era written about.Overall the ONLY book like it I know about.
