Danielle and Wes have been best friends since college, so when Wes needs a date for his sister’s wedding and Dani needs a partner for her company’s retreat, they devise the perfect plan: a fake engagement to get through both events unscathed. Adrenaline-junkie Wes can prove to both his ex and his family that he’s well and truly moved on, and serious-minded Dani can prove to her boss that she’s worthy of the promotion he seems to only want to give to a family-oriented employee. But amid the fake swoons, fake kisses, and forced proximity, neither expects the very real feelings that develop. There’s nothing more dangerous than falling for your best friend…but what if the landing is worth the fall?

3.0 von 5 Sternen nette kleine Liebesgeschichte 17. Juli 2014
Format:Kindle Edition

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Story That Charmed My Heart! 16. Januar 2013
Von Andrea Thompson - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Kindle Edition
As someone who believes that falling in love with your best friend is the best thing ever, I almost feel as if Falling for Her Fiance' was made for me. I'm always quick to jump into books with this particular plot angle, and I can happily say that Cindi Madsen nailed it.

To make this scenario really work, the story needs a believable reason for the characters to fake an engagement, and it works perfectly here because Wes and Dani have been best friends for years. Wes, who's been recently dumped, wants Dani to attend his sister's wedding with him to keep his family's pity at bay. Dani, who desperately needs a promotion in order to support her mom and abuela, needs Wes to help her through a couples-oriented work retreat. He needs her; she needs him. It's a win-win, right? Dani and Wes truly love one another, as friends. When romantic feelings start to surface, though, the situation becomes complicated. And cute. And awesome.

Not only does Falling for Her Fiance' have a fun, romantic plot, it also has two great characters that I quickly fell in love with. Dani is a "guy's girl". She is funny, sarcastic, cute, and can play a mean game of basketball. She's been hurt in love, and a bit hesitant to jump back into the scene. She's the best friend Wes has ever had. Wes is...well, he's pretty freaking dreamy. He had a great personality: funny, smart, and charming; is adventurous, and he cares for and treats Dani so well. It probably doesn't hurt that his physical description fits Bradley Cooper and I read his lines with that lovely voice in my head. Hubba, hubba.

Everything about Falling for Her Fiance' worked for me. I laughed. I got all teary-eyed. I begged my family to leave me alone so I could read non-stop. I wanted that happy ending, and boy, Cindi Madsen makes her readers earn that ending. This is the third book of Madsen's I've read and I can say she is an expert at witty banter, charming characters, and stories that grab my heart and leave me with a smile.

Falling for Her Fiance' is another great book from Entangled Bliss.

I'm reviewing this off my Kindle Fire so I'm keeping it short-I read this in two nights.
Love the characters! Dani was so funny with her cynical inner voice. Loved her job delimma and how she and Wes came up with the plan to pretend an engagement. Wes was adorable and I wished over and over he would just make his move, but he was such a gentleman and obbviously loved Dani and their friendship so he did not want to ruin that. So many scenes had me in full LOL mode!

The first kiss is worth the wait and (spoiler) the happy ending was perfect... just an all around charming weekend read!

2.0 von 5 Sternen Just Kind of Enough 25. Januar 2014

2.5 stars

Meh. Simplest review ever, but really that's kind of what I thought about this one. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. I wouldn't say I really enjoyed reading it, but it's written well enough and the story, although not original, moved along quickly. Basically this book was just kind of enough.

I think my lack of feeling for the book stems from my lack of feelings for the characters. There was nothing wrong with Wes or Dani, but I just didn't feel like I knew either of them or formed any sort of connection with them. I also didn't buy their friendship. They met in college and became best friends bonding over their shared love of history, ok, I get that. However, the book takes place five years after they graduated and it's not really clear what's happened to their relationship over the last five years. Dani moved away to follow a boyfriend who turned out to be a total dud and the story picks up a few months after he dumped her. When Wes and Dani first talk on the phone I didn't feel any connection or spark between them. It seemed like they had lost touch since college and rarely spoke. But later in the book we find out that Wes had recently been to visit Dani after she had surgery, which really surprised me.

All of this made it difficult for me to then picture them as a couple. I get why people in their situation would be easily able to fool their family, everyone always thinks guys and girls can't really be friends, but I just didn't buy them as a couple. I was also surprised Dani had never met Wes's family before since they had been friends for so long and went to college around where his family lived. The fooling the family also bothered me, Wes's family was so nice and I felt so bad that he was lying to them.

The more I write this review the more I think of things I didn't like. This is one of those books where I just wanted to shake Dani and Wes and tell them to stop being such idiots. They both like each other, why not just tell each other? Or at least why doesn't Dani stop telling Wes to get back with his ex? And Dani is working at this job that she hates in a state that she can't stand, but she still wants to get promoted and refuses to even entertain the idea of moving back closer to Wes, not even to date him, but just to be happier. I get that big decisions are scary, but when you just want to slap the characters silly it's not a good sign.

I received an electronic review copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

3.0 von 5 Sternen A good start but needed more 5. Februar 2013
Von Problem Solver - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm all for a good, original contemporary romance. This story contains one of the most written plots - best friends fall for each other but can't decide if they should date and risk ruining the friendship. The main characters, Wes and Dani, are ones I've seen before as well. She's a career girl looking to move up the ladder and he's an impulsive guy who doesn't want to grow up. This is, all around, a familiar story, with new details. Those things aside, it was a good and quick read. It's fluffy and though Madsen touches on some deeper topics, like taking care of family through various difficult situations, it never really goes beyond the surface. The material was good but I wanted more. Also, for a romance novel, it was extremely chaste. The "will they or won't they" factor was well done and despite the reader knowing they would end up together from page one, the conflicts Madsen threw at them were realistic and also productive in the characters evolving. Both characters were extremely likable and I did find myself cheering for them to get together.

I'm giving this one 3/5 - it was a good start and for what it was, it was a nice but sort of forgettable read. I wish Madsen had just taken it a step further in all aspects. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys romance or chick lit and just needs a quick escape.

It was sweet. I didn't find it loaded with typos and poor editing which was a nice change. But there was really no depth to anyone or anything.
