Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Stuart Ashworth

Stuart Ashworth is a professional web developer and all-round web geek currently living in Glasgow, Scotland with his girlfriend Sophie and wee dog, Meg. After graduating with a 1st class honours degree in Design Computing from the University of Strathclyde, he earned his stripes at a small software company in the city.

Stuart has worked with Sencha technologies for over three years, creating various large and small scale web applications, mobile applications and framework plugins along the way.

At the end of 2010, Stuart and Andrew formed SwarmOnline, later becoming an official Sencha partner. They have since worked on projects with a number of local, national and international clients ranging from small businesses to large multi-national corporations.

Stuart enjoys playing football, snowboarding and visiting new cities. He blogs about Sencha technologies on the SwarmOnline website as much as possible and can be contacted via Twitter, Email or the Sencha Forums.

Andrew Duncan

Andrew Duncan's passion for the Internet and Web Development began from a young age, when he spent much of his time creating websites and installing/managing a 2 km2 wide wireless mesh network for his local, rural community.

After graduating in Business & Management from the University of Glasgow, Andrew was inspired to set up a business offering web development, training and consultancy as SwarmOnline. During expansion, he partnered with Stuart Ashworth at the end of 2010. His experience is now expansive, having worked with a variety of small, medium and multinational businesses for both the public and private sector markets.

Sencha's technologies first became of interest to Andrew more than three years ago. His knowledge and enthusiasm was recognized in the Sencha Touch App Contest where SwarmOnline secured a top 10 place.

This talent did not go unrecognized as Sencha soon signed SwarmOnline as their first official partner outside the US.

When not immersed in technology, Andrew lives in Glasgow's West End with his girlfriend, Charlotte. He enjoys skiing, curling and DIY projects. Andrew can be found on swarmonline.com/blog, by email and twitter.

HASH(0xa209c120) von 5 Sternen Great book for all Ext JS 4 developers 19. Februar 2014
Von Philip Arad - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
If you plan to develop a sophisticated up to date online application, you have to make the right choices for the Web libraries you are going to use.
Sencha Ext JS JavaScript framework is the most suitable package for this purpose.
Sencha Ext JS brings cross-browser high-performance UI widgets and rich data management libraries to the app development, enables developers to use a model-view-controller (MVC) architecture, and delivers the most advanced charting and graphing capabilities of any JavaScript framework.
For best using this library, I recommend you to read the book from 'Packt Publishing': ' Ext JS 4 Web Application Development Cookbook' (see: [...]).
The book is a very useful hands-on practical guide for both intermediate and expert JavaScript developers. It works through the Ext JS framework from the fundamentals to advanced features and application design. With more than 130 detailed and practical recipes, you will learn how to develop truly interactive and responsive web applications.
The book describes how to create and work with forms, grids, data views, and charts. You will also learn about the best practices for structuring and designing your application and how to deal with storing and manipulating data. The cookbook structure is such that you may read the recipes in any order.
The book describes in detail each recipe with extensive examples that you can use and adapt for your own purposes.
By using all the features introduced in this book, you can use this great architecture to build your own applications and to address correctly the problems you encounter when developing your applications and web sites.

HASH(0xa209c174) von 5 Sternen Nice to have 28. Dezember 2012
Von DF - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
This book is nice to have since there is no better one on this topic. The recipe can't create a complete dish. There is no working project which can put things together. I think the author should have paid more attentions to the quality of his own work.

HASH(0xa209c450) von 5 Sternen Good but could be better 24. September 2012
Von Tulvan - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
The book is good, but the format leaves something to be desired. First, it is not for beginners. The code snippets in the book leave a lot of holes for the reader to fill in. There are also a fair number of syntax mistakes that could really throw a newbie off the trail.

With that being said, the information provided is well presented and its very helpful to see the various aliases available. The examples were kept brief and to the point. The text is well written and easy to follow.

One last note. I have not finished the entire book yet, but after the first several chapters, it would be nice it there was a "project" the book built upon as well as the short examples.

HASH(0xa209c870) von 5 Sternen Great book and a lot of examples 25. September 2012
Von Amazon Customer - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
This is a great book, very well written and has a lot of examples throughout the book. The code provided is fantastic and very easy to follow.

In my personal opinion, the only thing this book lacks is to have a more comprehensive introduction on ExtJS. Having said that, the combination of the book and on-line documentations is sufficient for creating any Rich Internet Application.

I really enjoyed reading this book and following the code and strongly recommend it.
