"Let's be real—I'm a fashion expert, not a chef. Therefore the kitchen intimidates me and I wouldn't know what to do with a bean sprout unless it came with a handbag. Katie Chin's dynamic personality and ability to make food a relatable experience has transformed my fear of Thai cooking into an obsession that is now a daily part of my life. Her choice of ingredients are stylishly unique, while the ease and taste of her dishes have become my obsession. Friends, ever wanted an excuse to turn up the heat in the kitchen? Here it is." —Jeannie Mai, television host of Style Network's "How Do I Look?" and fashion correspondent on NBC's "Today Show"

"I met Katie's mother Leeann Chin when she was a guest on my cooking series, "Hawaii Cooks." Leeann was a fabulous cook and teacher. With this new book, her daughter Katie will make Thai cooking simple and approachable for the home cook, just like her mother did with Chinese cooking for American kitchens. Katie makes Thai cuisine easy to understand and approachable." —Roy Yamaguchi, award winning chef, author, inventor of Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine and founder of Roy's Restaurant

"Flipping through the pages of this extraordinary cookbook, you cannot ignore Chin's unwavering passion for Thai cuisine. As a mother, wife, and daughter of a great restaurateur/chef, this is one teacher you want to pay attention to. The pages will inspire you, as it did for me, to bring your family and friends to the table to share a delicious healthy meal together." —Master Chef Martin Yan, author and host of "Yan Can Cook"

"Being a judge on Iron Chef America could be intimidating for some, but Katie's understanding and passion for good food came through. In her latest book, Everyday Thai Cooking, she presents a delicious and mouthwatering assortment of Thai recipes that are simple enough for any home cook to master." —Iron Chef Morimoto

"As a professional chef who spends 6 days a week cooking Italian cuisine, I often find myself craving an alternative cuisine when I get home. My friend Katie Chin has solved that problem for my family by arming us with the tools we need for a successful Thai meal. Her inspired menus will bring your family the taste and traditions of Thailand inside the time constraints of the hectic American family schedule. Technique is the foundation of all great cooking! Buy this book and you'll be armed with all you need to make a healthy, tasty meal in no time." —Michael Chiarello, acclaimed chef, cookbook author, TV personality and winemaker

"(F)illed with enthusiasm and energy—and, what's probably more important, it includes nearly 100 recipes with exotic ingredients that are fairly accessible. The directions are easy to follow, and there are great color photographs. It's no wonder Chin has been called the Asian Rachel Ray." —Booklist (Starred Review)

"Katie Chin's Everyday Thai Cooking is an ode to your taste buds—her recipes hit every note of spicy, sweet, sour and savory! The recipes are simple and quick (most meals can be made within 30 minutes or less) and every bit of authentic Thai. Katie's fool-proof recipes and insightful cook's tips ensure that your foray into Thai cooking is cheaper than restaurant dining, faster than take-out and just as delicious." —Jaden Hair, television chef, food columnist and award-winning food blogger at www.SteamyKitchen.com

"I love it that every page of Katie Chin's Everyday Thai Cooking is filled with gorgeous photography and mouthwatering recipes from Thailand. If you love Thai food and wish to attempt it at home, this is the book that will guide you through it." —Bee Yinn Low, author of Easy Chinese Recipes

i learned how to cook Indian by buying a book and experiment- i wanted to tackle Thai the same way and this is the one i keep using.
Great pictures, great recipes and easy to find products also in Europe . The salmon with green curry sauce has quickly become a stable for dinner in our house.

Disappointed with Pad Thai recipe 7. April 2014
Von Tracy - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
This cookbook is okay based on the one recipe I tried so far. I cooked the Pad Thai recipe and was disappointed with the finished product. The sauce was average tasting, and the recipe called for triple the amount of sauce compared to what other recipes call for. It was heavy on the tamarind paste. This ended up making the dish very saturated with sauce, and the flavor became overwhelmingly strong. I tried 3 other Pad Thai recipes from 3 different cookbooks, and this was my least favorite. Even the Paula Deen recipe in her family cookbook was better by far. I am hesitant to try other recipes given this popular one was so disappointing.

Like making friends with a great chef... 13. August 2013
Von KateK - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
This book is filled with the author's upbeat personality. My picky almost 14 year old would never walk into a Thai restaurant, but he was convinced to help me cook the Shaking Beef and the Glass Noodles with Crab. We worked together following Chef Chin's very clear recipes. The best part of this cook book is that it introduced a new cuisine to my three children, let us explore the store to find new ingredients and gave us a sense of accomplishment when our dishes looked as pretty as Chef Chin's (well, almost as pretty). The Pad Thai was also a big hit. For me personally, I love all the recipes with mangos - you can never get enough mangos. A great recipe book for anyone who loves Thai cooking already or who wants an easy way to get familiar with it.

Disappointed with number of recipes and countless repetition 23. März 2014
Von SF - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
Hate when a recipe book beefs up the page count by simply repeating the same exact recipe on a full page side by side with a substitute ingredient. Ie. p44,45. chicken coconut soup facing shrimp coconut soup. Take away the repetition and this book would be a pamphlet instead. A better way to fill out the book would be to spend more time describing the culture and familiarizing the cook/reader with how to develop a comfort level producing meals using these flavors. Or maybe even coming up with even more Thai recipes!!!!!

Scrumptious 7. August 2013
Von Fike-Chin Family - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
Although I love cooking and love Thai food I've stayed clear of cooking Thai food at home because I always thought I wouldn't have the ingredients on hand or the recipes would be too fussy. This cookbook has proven me wrong. The dishes are so flavorful but no more difficult than an average American meal. The gorgeous photography make all the recipes so tempting and the step by step instructions are very clear and easy to follow.

which are useless and boring in my opinion 2. Juli 2014
Von Jess - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
An OK Thai cookbook. Be aware that the recipes are not fully 'authentic' in the sense that the dishes in this book are different from the dishes you would find at a food stall in Thailand.

The book is filled with little anecdotes of the author's short honeymoon trip to Thailand, which are useless and boring in my opinion. The book would be better without them. I gave 3 stars because the dishes are not authentic, but they are very easy to replicate.
