Klar und einfach strukturiert 5. Januar 2005

Das Buch besticht durch den Versuch das Themengebiet der Enterprise Integration zu strukturieren und die Lösungen mit Hilfe von Pattern zu beschreiben. Der Pattern-Katalog ist sehr umfangreich und enthält eine eigene Syntax zur Modellierung. Es passt sehr gut in die "Martin Fowler Signature Book"-Reihe, obwohl die Beschreibung der Pattern nicht ganz der Struktur entspricht, die Fowler in seinem Buch "Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture" vorlegt.
Dennoch wird dieser Mängel durch die Modellierungs-Syntax neutralisiert. Ich kann dieses Buch nur empfehlen. Man sollte auch unbedingt die Englische Version benutzen, da ich die Erfahrung gemacht habe, das die deutschen Übersetzungen der Pattern-Bücher grundsätzlich schlecht sind.

Gründlich, fundiert, gehaltvoll: Ein perfektes Fachbuch... 30. Mai 2007

für Software-Architekten. Ich halte Gregor Hohpe's EI-Patterns für DAS Highlight der Patterns-Literatur.

Er hat ein ungeheuer gutes Gespür für aussagekräftige Diagramme, und für das Buch eine sehr praktische

Notation entwickelt, die seine Muster sehr leicht lesbar und verständlich halten.

Daneben ist das Buch auch noch besonders gut geschrieben - keine Spur der Trockenheit, die allzu vielen

IT-Büchern anhaftet.

Fazit: IT-Architekten, kaufen, aber flott. Ich besitze das Buch seit 2003 - und habe es mehrfach

wirklich praktisch nutzen können - es hat über die Jahre nichts an Aktualität verloren.

Since i found many quotes in sources i used for my diploma thesis and my professor likes this book as well, i bought this book out of personal interest and did not regret it.
It is well written and contains a huge bunch of patterns for integration of enterprise scale applications via messaging solutions. I have been interested in EAI for quite a while, so i can use this book quite well. Well, a little colour would not hurt here and there and some visualizations are a little dull, so i rate it with 4 out of 5 and can only recommend it.

Like David A. Chappell said in his ESB book: "It is all in the message." :-)
