I love this book! My first reaction to it was to soak up all the gorgeous photos. Only after days did I feel able to concentrate on the very helpful text which explains the gardens and is full of history and good plant advice. I use the book all the time to get ideas, to look at pairings of plants, to see how objects look in a well-planned garden, and use the text to gain information for my own gardens, one in Wisconsin and one in southern Louisiana. It's amazing that I can grow many of the same plants in both places, don't you think? But no matter how diligently I plan, I'll never have a stone Cotswold manor house as a backdrop, nor a tithe barn, nor ancient double walls. I do have the plants, though, and this book really helps me decide what to use where and how the herbs look and act with flowers.
