This is the last in a series of four books about the life of Caius Julius Caesar. I have devoured them all.
Writing this story involved certainly an enormous amount of research and preparatory work. Of course, part of it can't be anything else but fiction but it is also based on quite a lot of historical facts. What an extraordinary personality and strong-willed character this Caius must have been! He was able to motivate and convince so many soldiers to follow him and even give their lives for him and his cause.
The book also gives us an idea of what life in those days must have been like, of what it meant to be an ordinary soldier, a slave, a woman or a member of the privileged class.
To me, all four books were fascinating , and I'll have a look what else Conn Iggulden has written.
