EMILY: SEX & SENSIBILITY is a steamy romance novel by USA Today Bestelling Author Sandra Marton. Emily Wilde has led a privileged life. Now she’s trying to make it on her own in Manhattan. Marco Santini grew up dirt poor in a Sicilian slum. Now he has everything. He’s gorgeous. He’s rich. He’s powerful. And he has all the beautiful women a man could ask for. Then, one rainy night, he sees a woman standing alone on a deserted New York street corner. Emily is clearly in need of help, but she’s not foolish enough to step into Marco’s chauffeured Mercedes. It takes a lot of convincing before she lets him take her to her apartment. He swears he’s not going to do anything he shouldn’t and he means it--but she’s in his arms before they can stop themselves. Still, it’s only a kiss, just one kiss in a moment torn out of time. That’s what they both think. But Fate has other plans, starting with an unexpected job offer and a business trip to Paris that explodes in a passion so hot it will change everything--everything but the web of lies that traps them both.

Basically, I agree with M. Carrigan's review (.com). Technically, the writing is good.
As for the story .. well, it is fiction. In order to survive in NYC (to at least get a job to pay the rent) and prove herself capable, Emily drops her well-known family name. Marco's reaction to finding out about her little name change is over the top.

3.5 stars really

It's hard to imagine so many things going wrong for a woman written to be intelligent. Emily was thrown about by the tide of the bar patrons where she played piano -- and, by the way, what is so shameful about that??? It's NYC, and Emily wasn't selling her body, for goodness' sake! When things went wrong with her employment, Emily seemed unable to stand up for herself. This is a young woman insistent on making it on her own, without her family's help?? Then stand up for yourself!

She accepts a job with Marco, and goes on a business trip with him and charms everyone. They are intimate together very quickly. The relationship continues at home, while Emily has enough backbone to maintain the appearance of independence at work, going to work, leaving work. A mutual friend accidentally outs her real identity -- suddenly Marco is so betrayed! That was a bit melodramatic. The make up was good, and so was the thawing of Marco's heart initially. But in general, it wasn't a really deep character development, and not entirely consistent either. But it was fine. It was chocolate to me; not nourishing, but I liked it while it lasted.

While this is a great addition to the series, but if I'm honest.... it was a little bit of a let down after just reading the story about Travis & Jennie. But then again; it's going to take one heck of a book to top that one, at least for me it will anyway. Don't get me wrong, this is a very, very good story. I do wish that there was a little bit more interaction with Emily's family then there was, though. I know that they were there in the end for her, but I would have liked a little more of them throughout the story. In the stories that involved the brothers, all the siblings had more interaction with one another than this one did. I know, just call me picky. LOL! It was also nice to see Khan & Laurel show up in this story. I don't remember them showing up in any other of the other three books in this series. So it was really nice to catch up with them, although it was just briefly. I curious to know, if they'll be embarking on their own heir to the throne soon.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, I certainly would.

The heroine of the book, Emily, came across to me as a ditzy airhead and I couldn't quite understand what Marco saw in her apart from the obvious thing a man sees in a woman. We were told that she was an academic, held a minor in philosophy, spoke four languages including Chinese and was a Phi Beta Kappa yet nothing in the book would have proved that. I am a Sandra Marton fan and liked her previous books in the series about the Wilde brothers, but this was a disappointment.

This is my first book review because normally I leave that for the other readers, never finding the time but I so enjoyed this book I had to share. First off let me say that it was my first book by Sandra Marton. Secondly I will now read as many by Sandra as I can find. I have always enjoyed reading anything romance or romantic suspense, but am very picky with my authors. I have been finding so many stories that leave you wanting....especially those authors that feel they need to release a second or third book so they can finish a story, which come on....we all know its the way they make money. I don't mind a book that's in a series as long as each one completes their own story which Sandra Marton has done. So do yourself a favor, kick back grab a drink and enjoy a very good read. Thanks Sandra, I look foward to more.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Best book in the Wilde Saga 24. Mai 2013
Von yumemiru - Veröffentlicht auf
I read all the book in the series so far and this is by far the best book yet. I really love SM bring in all the characters back into this book to connect them all together. Interestingly enough, I loved The Prince of Pleasure and Em's book and only liked the Wilde brothers' book in comparison. SPOILER!!!

My heart was breaking for Em when they were having their fight/confession but know in true romance style they would have their HEA. I loved how she been the baby of the family and wanted to prove she can do it on her own instead of depending on her successful family.

Ms. Marton, another great done book. I can't wait for Jaimie: Fire and Ice {in the fall} and Lissa: Sugar and Spice {next spring}.
