Oh, no. Not them!
The culprit is - as we will learn in this very entertaining short story written by Michael Ridpath - Edge of Nowhere
, 66 North: Fire & Ice Book II (Fire and Ice)
- a person, that is perfectly visible to everyone...
Magnus Jonson, Icelander by birth, American Cop by education, has returned to his roots to serve in the Reykjavik Police. But this case takes him to the very Edge of Nowhere
- into the North West Fjords to an incident that has all the requisites to become a murder investigation. The dead man wasn't a very nice person, had enemies and a recent murder threat.
But the locals - spearhaeded by a wannabe-"Seer" - are sure that here were the Huldufòlk, The Invisibles at work, revenging the construction of a tunnel on their claimed grounds...
But - like always - there will be a much more "human" solution of the case...
The story is well woven, the acting persons are well designed and the situation, the beliefs and the atmosphere of this godforsaken region of Iceland's North-West gives a lot of insight You only gain by experience.
I enjoyed this story very much, for lovers and friends of Iceland an absolute Must-Read.
