Kurzbeschreibung

One sadist. One submissive.
One extraordinary love.
WELCOME TO DARK HAVEN
AND MAY ALL YOUR DARKEST WISHES COME TRUE

Fleeing false murder charges, Lindsey lands in San Francisco. There she builds a satisfying life until, in the notorious Dark Haven BDSM club, she encounters deVries. Moth, meet flame.

A security specialist and occasional mercenary, deVries needs an adorable submissive like a knife to the gut. Hell, she’s not even a masochist. But here she is, all big brown eyes and sweet body and sassy mouth. Loyal. Tough-minded. Honest.

Or maybe not, considering her ID is forged. If she thinks to lie to him, she’ll learn better. He’s the Enforcer of Dark Haven—his discipline is absolute, his punishments harsh, and his heart untouched...until now.

=========================

Having to wear glasses in elementary school can scar a person for life. Dubbed a nerd at an early age, Cherise Sinclair has been trying to live up to the stereotype ever since. And what better way than being an author?

Known for writing deeply emotional stories, Cherise is the author of fifteen erotic romance novels, most with a BDSM theme. (Please do not mention the phrase mommy porn in her presence.) Her awards extend from a National Leather Award in 2011 to a Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice nomination to a GoodReads BDSM group award for best author of 2011. Called an "ascendant erotica queen" by Rolling Stone Magazine, Cherise spends her days writing, supervised by a sadistic calico cat.

please hurt me, Master deVries :-P
Another fabulous book by Cherise Sinclair! Great story, great characters, awesomely written again!
As always I love how Cherise Sinclair introduces the variety of BDSM with various kinks that fit the characters perfectly. In this special case, I love the compromise she created for the hard-core sadist deVries and the not masochist Lindsey! Excellent!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Loved it.. 14. Mai 2014

This is the 2nd sadist character Cherise has written. The first character, his woman was a masochist so it made sense they’d be perfect for each other after working through some issues. In Edge, Lindsey is neither a masochist nor does she want to be one. So how can this work, right?

Well, it worked perfectly of course with many bumps along the way. I also love that in some of the more recent books from Cherise a lot of time is spent out of the BDSM Clubs and shows the characters in their jobs and lives away from the Dom/Sub situations in the Club.

Alexander deVries is both a mercenary and in the security business working for Simon. Its after a mission his masochist needs come out and he needs to decompress at the Club. Since the subs he mainly scenes with are men its assumed he’s bi-sexual. That is not the case and I liked and understood the reason he gave.

Lindsey has been working as one of the receptionist manning the front desk of Dark Haven. We’d met her in a previous book but didn’t know the secret she was hiding from everyone. Turns out she killed her husband in self defense and has been on the run ever since.

Lindsey owes deVries from losing in game that was played in a previous book, when he calls that token in both of their lives change but with deVries having a few hang ups from an ex wife and Lindsey being hunted by men that will kill her if they find her there road to happiness is not an easy one.

The story is equal parts BDSM and outside life. Its written so it all blends perfectly. Every character from the previous Mountain Masters and Dark Haven make an appearance in this book which was great to see how all the couples were doing and even getting to see them in action when things go south when the men hunting Lindsey find her.

I am always sad when I come to the end of a Cherise book, I could read her stories forever.

5.0 von 5 Sternen The sadist with a submissive dynamic rocks! 14. Mai 2014
Von Fan - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Brief plot summary: Lindsey is on the run and hiding from her past life in Texas, where the bad guys are/were her former husband and the cops. Because she's hiding, she can't use her education or get a particularly good job, so works as a receptionist at Dark Haven for her membership, while eeking out a marginal living in menial and temp jobs. After calling in his contest "winnings" (essentially a night with Lindsey), deVries mistakes her background and makes negative assumptions about Lindsey's motives, which sets things up for the relationship part of the angst-ridden moments. Lindsey's past coming back to haunt her make for the rest. Throw in a dungeon or two, several very hot "scenes" and all the feelings Cherise is so good at generating, and all I can say is 5 stars!

My interest was definitely peaked by deVries in "My Liege of Dark Haven" and I was really glad he got his own book. The premise of a die-hard sadist and Dom matched with a non-masochistic submissive was more than a little intriguing, so I was waiting for this one from the time I heard about it. It does NOT disappoint! I loved the feeling the book evoked when reading about the interactions between deVries (our sadist Dom) and Lindsey (our oh so not a masochistic submissive).

Their chemistry started in My Liege, and came full force in Edge (you don't have to read any of the others, but they certainly add the back stories of other couples in Edge and details you may like should you wish to do so). I particularly loved that Cherise went into the details of how deVries' sadism manifested itself and the struggles he and Lindsey went through to deal with their differing needs while still staying true to their feeling for each other. I also really liked seeing them (mostly him, lol) in a non-sadist mode, where the way he was feeling about Lindsey wasn't tied up in his sadistic needs - he was just feeling. He's a Dom too after all, so he often played in that role both with and apart from the sadist role; and on top of all that, he was the guy going for the girl he liked (with food and movies and hikes and things like that).

Another hit entry to the Dark Haven series - if you like this genre, this is a definite winner!

3.0 von 5 Sternen 3.5 rating, and I'm sorry I couldn't round up 19. Mai 2014

I will start by saying that I LOVE Cherise Sinclair! I have everyone of her books on my Kindle, but I was actually a little disappointing with this book. Please don't get me wrong, I didn't have a problem with any of the characters, plot, or ending. I just found it a little better than ok. Yes, I am glad that I purchased it, but I did not experience the satisfaction that I ordinarily feel when I see "The End" in her books.

Pros:

Characters were awesome, supportive, and constant throughout the novel. Often, I have felt the Dark Haven series doesn't have the sense of family that her Club Shadowlands does. This book changed that for me. There was family and community. I really loved the support and domination of the characters throughout the book.

Cherise was pretty funny. She incorporated a lot more humor in the narrative, and I really appreciated that Lindsey, who is clearly not a masochist, was a little feisty. She definitely has a mouth on her and deVries was more than cool with it. Sure, he went into dom mode a few times as a result. But in reality, not every sub is tight-lipped. So I really appreciated that we get a sub that is feisty, asserts her independence (even if she isn't successful), and is isn't punished or considered recalcitrant. So tons of points to Cherise for that.

We get to see some new types of play introduced by The Enforcer. Electrocism and knife play are there, and of course she writes the scenes with excellence. Unfortunately, I didn't feel the steaminess that many people have written about, and I really wish that I did. But to be clear, they are great together, and I believed every scene. I just was not as hot for them.

deVries is a sadist, and while Cherise mentioned that she pushed her limits a bit when writing him, I think she did an excellent job with his dialogue. I found his responses very realistic when he was being a top. I believed them, and that really made me happy.

Cons:

It was predictable. I pretty much guessed A to B to C. Of course she threw in a few elements in each step that I didn't anticipate, but I had a general idea of where things where going.

As a few other reviewers have mentioned, the end did seem a little rushed. But to Cherise's credit, I don't know what I could have suggested differently. The ended wasn't dissatisfying, but it did seem short and quick.

Maybe a spoiler, but for once, we have no final scene at the end. WHAT?!! That was a surprise and one I wish had not been there. I think it would have been nice to have scene to help with dealing and healing some of the scares from the past.

deVries. Oh deVries..... So he has some issues. That is acceptable to me. I have no problem with that. And yes, he is kind of a teddy bear, and I think that represent many sadists. But I found myself frustrated with him going back-and-forth, and by his inappropriate responses to things not involving intimacy or bdsm play. He jumped to the same conclusions inappropriately a few times, and that was irritating, though very human. Yes, you know it's a great author when they can create a character that makes you frustrated and feel a certain way. But we all have our opinions, and I am not as in love with him as her other characters. Perhaps it was because I found him far more compromising than her other alpha doms. But I do think he has great character and is a good sadist who has needs like the rest of us.

Over all, I would put this novel a little better than Master of the Abyss which is Jake and Kallie's novel, which I rated as three stars. I never thought I'd have to rate one of Cherise's books so low again, but I honestly found it just okay, and I'm genuinely sorry to say that. But I would recommend it because you might find it exactly what you're looking for, and I sincerely hope that you do!

5.0 von 5 Sternen The Enforcer is HOT 14. Mai 2014

I knew going into this book that I had high expectations for it; the scene between Lindsay and DeVries in My Liege of Dark Haven is one of the hottest things EVER in my opinion. Ms. Sinclair did not let me down.

DeVries, aka the Enforcer aka Zander is one serious sadist. And the submissive that gets him going the most is, unfortunately, only a medium-level masochist. We know that going in, which made me wonder how the two could possibly both get their needs met.

That's not the only issue that they have to deal with along the way though. Lindsay has been hiding more from her friends and the Doms of Dark Haven then I would have ever suspected. She's got a nasty past and a healthy fear of corrupt law enforcement for a reason, which means that there's no one she can turn to and no one that will be safe with the truth. The cherry on top of her effed-up sundae are the insecurity issues that two user-ex-husbands have left her with. Fortunately, the Enforcer isn't exactly a man to be denied once he decides what he wants.

The scenes in this are HOT. There's a bit of MM sado-masochism, a lot of voyeur/exhibitionism and some of the sexiest backdoor action I've ever read. As usual, Ms. Sinclair throws in something new for readers, a kink that hasn't been previously explored in other books. I have to admit, I've never been into edge play, but the mindfvck of the knife play scene was seriously steamy.

We also get to see snippets of all of our favorite characters, a short visit up to Logan and Jake's, and even a happy ending for Dixon.

If you love the Doms of Dark Haven, this is a MUST read.

DeVries didn't do it for me. Yes, he was sexy, sadistic and HOT, but... Spoiler review: he was way too quick to jump to conclusions which were devestating to poor Lindsey and their relationship. Yeah, his wife did him wrong but to turn on a dime and pre-judge her so harshly really pissed me off. As I said, I am such a Cherise Sinclair fan. I gobble them up as soon as they are released and adore The Shadowlands.
