Nick Kyme has written books for both Warhammer Fantasy and Warhmmer 40,000. His books include Salamander, Oathbreaker and Honourkeeper. Upcoming books include Firedrake (book 2 of the Salamander series), The Fall of Damnos for Space Marine battles and the script for the audio book – Fireborn. In his day job, Nick is an editor for the Black Library and is responsible for developing the new crop of authors that the Black Library is working with.

An interesting collection for Warhammer Dwarfs fans

As a previous reviewer indicated, these are not happy books. Instead, it portrays dwarfs at their grimmest and most dour. If you are a fan of Dwarfs (or Dwarves in general), the trilogy (plus Grudgelore) provides in insight into the bearded folk. From their grudges (going back to antiquity), hatred of the grobi (goblins), to honor that is both as heart-wrenching as it is frightening, better insight is not available.
Rather than a more traditional Warhammer omnibus, it is important to keep in mind that there are essentially 3 story arcs in the Dwarfs collection. The first two books (Grudgebearer, Oathkeeper) are in the same cycle. The third book (Honorkeeper) goes back to the early days of the Warhammer world, and then the forth book is Grudgelore.
Rather than a more traditional Warhammer omnibus, it is important to keep in mind that there are essentially 3 story arcs in the Dwarfs collection. These aint your World of Warcraft Dwarves...

Ok, I'm only half way through this omnibus and felt I had to chime in here.
A previous commentor said this book was "all doom and gloom". Well I got news for ya, this isn't your "Everquest, World of Warcraft or even Dungeons and Dragons" dwarves, or as the title says, Dwarfs.
The world of Warhammer is a very hardcore place and this book reflects it well. You won't get the dwarves here dancing around and goofing off like Hobbits or Halflings in other worlds. Ok, well maybe once or twice at great festivles. BUT, most of the time they are fighting for their lives, and let me tell you, the fighting is not watered down for the weak. As is most of the Warhammer universe, and I've just recently gotten into it, like 5 books or so, it's hard core "no sissys need apply" fantasy. One minute your rooting for a character and the next he may die a horible death to the Ratmen, Orcs, Goblins and many other nasty things here.
With that said, the writting is superb by both authors and I look forward to getting into more of their books!

This is how dwarves should be written

I picked up this book and didn't really know what to expect. WOW! This is the way I have always envisioned dwarven culture as it should be. I fell in love with the dwarves when I first read Tolkien so many years ago, and wished he had fleshed them out more as he did the elves. The tragedy of the race, and the underground wars they fought always filled my imagination. The authors have done just that and so much more. This is a book I will re-read over and over again. Praise for all of those involved in this ominbus, from of course the authors, to the map makers, and the outstanding penciled artwork. If you like the dwarven culture, and tired of the same old dwarves in fantasy pick up this tome, and be ready to have your dwarven appetite whetted. My only complaint is I wish there was more.
