Das D&D Basis Set ist ein gutes Hilfsmittel für alle die mit den Thema "Rollenspiel" und "Dungeons and Dragons" einsteigen wollen.
Dieses Set beinhaltet folgendes:
* 16 bemalte Platiskfiguren (aus der D&D Miniatures Serie, und die 16 sind nicht zufällig ausgewählt)
* 4 bemalte Spielfelder
* 4 fertig ausgefüllte Charakterbögen
* 1 Würfelset (w%, w20, w12, w10, w8, w6, w4)
* 1 Heftchen "Schnellstart Regeln"
* 1 Heftchen mit einem sehr kleinen Abenteuer(für die schnellstart Regeln)
* 1 Heft mit erweiterten Regeln und einem ausführlicheren Abenteuer
Die 3 Hefte(chen) sind abgespeckte Versionen der offiziellen D&D Regeln(von allen etwas weniger). Sie sind halt wirklich nur zum Schnuppern gedacht. Die anderen Teile aus dem Set lassen sich ohne Probleme auch im D&D 3.0 und 3.5 benutzen(die Figuren sind halt DAS Highlight).
Ich selbst bin schon länger ein D&D Spieler/Leiter und finde das Preisleistungsverhältniss okay(man hat kein Glückspiel mit den Figuren, die stehen schon fest). Ich konnte zwar mit den Regelheftchen nicht so viel Anfangen(ich Spiele nach den aktuellen 3.5 Regeln), aber der Rest leistet seine Dienste hervorragend. Sie 4 Sterne hat sich das Set auch redlich verdient.

So many minatures, so liitle money

The box comes with the following 16 Minitures
Adventurers: Aramil, Eberk, Regdar, Lidda
Monsters: Dire Rat, 4 Kobolds, 2 Skeletons, Wolf Skeleton ,Black Dragon , 2 Orc Warriors, Troglodyte
The Black Dragon is well scuplted/painted and well worth the price of box set by himself.
A sililar pack of Kobolds from reaper would retail for $10.
All of the Iconics match their D&D artwork down to the last detail
If you bought similar models and dice from any other manufacturer it would cost you at least $60, to get it at Amazon's bagain price is too good of a deal for any D&D miniatures enthusiast to pass up.

I have this game. Just got done playing it w/ my nephew. I have not played D&D since late 80's but picked up the "new" basic set on a whim because it had been a long time.
After using the quick start manual, my nephew's first question was "where did you get this game"? because it was fun.
This Basic Set has its limits, but it was a good refresher and easy to get back in the game w/ a new player.
I hope this review helps because one reviewer rates the game w/o even mentioning anything about the product or game play.

Good starter, but less complete than previous D&D primers

The 2004 (3rd ed) is still a good primer to introduce those new to boardless games to the greatest RPG ever invented. This boxed set has everything you need to play, but less pregenerated adventures than the previous boxed sets. You will hook newcomers on this amazing world of adventure and imagination, then discover you'll soon want evern more options than this set can provide (which was WIZARDS' plan in the first place). The hardcover D&D Player's handbook gives you the complete rules, with more race, spells etc.
This set comes with16 nice painted miniatures (4 heroes and the rest monsters) better than the punch-outs of the earlier set.
The set has 4 pre-genterated character sheets to start play immediately, along with the standard 7 dice, quick start rules, a small first adventure book and "advanced" rulebook, 4 double-sided map tiles for generating dungeons and combat. Also this set has monster stat card very handy for handling combat without constant pageturning. The set lists for ages 12 and up, but a good reader of 8 (along with an adult guide) would love this set.
