After reading several books about the mysterious and often frustrating C language, I found myself lost. I found the light in a book with yellow and black cover named "C for Dummies, Volume One". I found myself reading the book in the store until the manager wanted to toss me out. I just had to buy that book. A desiscion I never will regret. It`s actually a very humorous book, and I often found myself reading it only because of the "one-liners" mr.Gookin so elegantly have integrated with actual learning stuff... stuff that you usually wouldn`t be so eager to read about. This is a great read! Even if you never want to learn C programing.

If you want to learn C, start here. Dan Gookin's writing is a joy to read, and you will learn to program in C in short order. These books introduce C in a clear manner without the techno babble associated with many other books.

This is a wonderful book for anyone who has no programming experience. It is very clear and consise along with being funny. Though there are a couple of draw backs. 1. The book doesn't come with a c compiler (you're best best is to buy either Borland C++ or Microsoft Visual C++) and 2. Some of the example programs are out of date and do not work with some compilers. On the bright side the book has it's own website (...). I had two seperate questions for the author, so I e-mailed him and he responded promtly both times!

I definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in learning about programming or learning the c language.
