...hm, personally, I don't think so. But maybe others are of a different opinion. Anyway, in this book Duncan Forbes, sort of an art professor cum P.I. comes to a small town in search of a lost masterpiece and encounters the town librarian, Alex Forrest, who as per description in the book, dresses/looks like a hooker but is in fact this intellectual librarian type of person. The story isn't really credible, but hey, it's fiction. Still, the way the relationship between Duncan and Alex enfolds, hot sex scenes notwithstanding, isn't really what I would call heart-melting romance. In fact, parts of the attitudes of Duncan and Alex were downright annoying to me.
I was always waiting for something to be revealed about how Duncan secretly works for the CIA or something, but nothing ever came, the plot wasn't conclusive.
The one thing I really wanted to read more about was the secondary romance that developed between Alex's sister and the town cop. Maybe Ms. Warren will enlighten us about that one in one of her next books?
All in all, neither fish nor meat. Neither best romance nor best crime.
