Fazit: Ein klassicher DQ-Soundtrack wie wir ihn kennen und lieben. Herr Sugiyama zeigt wieder einmal symphonische Höchstleistung und Fans von älteren Episoden dürften Tracks wie "Overture", "Intermezzo" oder "Boogie Woogie in the Bar" durchaus bekannt vorkommen. Diese u.a. wurden nämlich neu arrangiert.
Wer allerdings die voll orchestrierte Version der europäischen PAL-Version erwartet, welche mit einem Live-Orchester eingespielt wurde, liegt hier falsch, denn dies ist der original Soundtrack, sprich Synthezizer ala Final Fantasy 10. Die Orchester Musik ist auf einer gesonderten CD genannt "Symphonic Suite Dragon Quest VIII Sorato Umito Daichito Norowareshi Himegimi" zu finden, welche aber nur schwer zu finden ist. Dennoch: als kleiner Trost ist diese Doppel-CD allemal wert.
