Kommentar: Aged book. PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASE. Please note this book is over 20 years old. It will therefore have tanned pages, age spots and plenty of shelfwear. However for its age it is still very useable, and a great read.

"... when it comes to sheer wanderlust, nobody has it like this man. It's a pleasure to immerse ourselves in the 224 pages and two pounds of heavily illustrated goodness that is this book. This is a fun book, packed with photos, memories and Dr. Frazier's direct and clever writing style. If you like travel writing, it's recommended. If you like Dr. Frazier, it's a must." - City Bike

"Much of this writing is from an eccentric point of view which makes for fascinating reading. Down and Out is a wonderful story loaded with useful advice as well as Greg's trademark irreverent and humorous anecdotes. You're in for a treat." - Adventure Motorcycle

"It's a bench racing festival of learning the ins and outs of round the world touring, something Frazier has done probably more than anyone else on the planet. Since you probably won't ride around the world countless times, get it and live vicariuosly." -

"If you're familiar with this adventurer's work, then you know that Greg has published many, many, many books. But this particular autobiographical journey is different. It covers a wider spectrum, the entirety of his adventure-bound life from the beginning to the present day. Captivating story line. Good combo of modern and nostalgic photos. The guy makes me jealous." â?? Motorcycle

"I have to say Gregory has outdone himself this time. Liberally illustrated with great photos from around the world, lots of fascinating people, places and stories in Gregory's typical laid back style. Recommended!" -

"Frazier has written something more than a motorcycle travel book. His book reveals as much about him as it does about the long roads he has traveled; maybe even more. The book takes us along on his motorcycle odyssey to the far pavilions; if it can be reached by a motorcycle, he has probably been there, and he may be about the only one who has. Spanning 224 pages, with 300 color and 50 black-and-white images, the book is masterfully edited by Jordan Wiklund and beautifully presented in hard cover." -

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Professional motorcycle adventurer Dr. Gregory W. Frazier is the only motorcyclist known to have circumnavigated the globe five times by motorcycle. He has been described as “America’s number-one extreme motorcycle adventurer.” No stranger to danger, his adventures around the earth have involved being shot at by rebels, jailed by unfriendly authorities, bitten by snakes, run over by Pamplona bulls, and smitten by a product of Adam’s rib. Frazier’s two-wheel travels have taken him over more than 1,000,000 miles and he has literally ridden a motorcycle to the ends of the earth: Deadhorse, Alaska; Ushuaia, Argentina; North Cape, Norway; Cape Agulhaus, South Africa; and Bluff, New Zealand. He continues today to actively pursue motorcycling adventures at distant places on the planet as well as in North America. Frazier works as an author, motorcycle journalist, film producer, and professional photographer. His stories appear throughout the international motorcycling press. Known for his travel and adventure articles, he also enjoys a solid reputation for motorcycle and product evaluations.

No depth to travel. Just naming places he went to. How does "Dr. Frazier" have the time to travel around the world and obtain a doctorate? In what?

A Cad Rides A Motorbike 7. Februar 2015

I am a great fan of Frazier's blog page and his short stories of travels around the world but this book feels like nothing so much as a quick visit to the ATM by the author in search of spare change and he got mine unhappily. The early chapters are fun and involving but they never develop into anything. I waded through tedious pages of lists of places visited, travel videos made to create the persona of a man who makes a living by riding a motorcycle, which seems to require machismo and self reassurance that the effort is worth the image. The bulk of the remainder of the book I skimmed as I was thoroughly bored by this stage. It was the tale of Frazier's decision to take a woman with a degenerative neural disorder on an extended motorcycle ride. By his own account the author was an ass but the passages I read were painful. He described her struggles to overcome the simplest of tasks with a brutal, uncaring candor that was breathtaking. I came away not only bored by rather repelled by this author who has, frankly lost my respect. Fortunately he seems to have lost his ability to write descriptively and engagingly so I guess it will be no great loss for me to not seek him out anymore; but I feel the loss in any event.

Just not my cup of tea. Was hoping for more engagement between the author and the folks he met along the way.

Very interesting to learn how he was able to make a living out of riding bikes around the world!
