The door into summer is just great story-telling. Another must in that category is RAH's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress".
Never mind that a lot of the predictions are off (like cold sleep, autonomous household machines - but they are working on both, I'm told), a lot of the predictions are also quite on the mark (like CAD systems, consumer markets, industrial overproduction/ overcapacity). The point is that it's a story well told.
Besides, when it comes to predicting the future, scifi authors are just as reliable as econimsts, historians, or the Club of Rome. But much more entertaining ...
I've read it in German, time and again (also a great time travel story *grin*), and I'm just considerung getting the English version, to complement my personal library.
