Base Under Siege With a Special Guest 16. April 2015
Von Adam Graham, Superhero and Detective Fiction Author - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Throughout the first two thirds of this story, writer Simon Guerrier opts to tell a somewhat typical base under siege Season 6 story as the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe arrive, and are blamed for sinister goings on, only to quickly be trusted and take charge.

The monster is interesting in the early going, interesting enough to hold your interest, but the story improves quite a bit when the Doctor stays behind the station, planning to get back to the TARDIS and navigate to rescue the others. However, a special surprise visitor changes his plan and its at that point, the story gets very interesting and suspenseful.

As usual, Frazier Hines' impersonation of the Second Doctor is uncanny and his skill as a narrator is superb. Taken together with Big Finish's typical soundscape, this story is a solid listen.
Whovian 28. Juni 2014

I bought this as a Christmas present for my husband who is a Who fan. He is happy to have it and has enjoyed it. I had trouble with ordering the first time from one seller and had to reorder from another. It took a long time to get here, but we finally got it to complete a 1-10 collection of Dr Who audio books.
Best Audio book I have read so far 18. Februar 2014

I have little experience with audio books other than Doctor Who productions, and I must say this was the besr I've heardd so far. The story is good, the effects are suspenseful, the reader draws you in and is good with voices. Big Finish should definitely be allowed to do more with the series.
Great story 13. März 2014

I loved the story fit so well in to what the second doctor did. Frazer Hines captures Patrick Troughton so well he sounds just like him.

The Best DOTD Audio Adventure! 3. April 2015
Von WriterGRL - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verifizierter Kauf
I've only heard 3 DOTD stories, but this by far the best! Frazer's reading is brilliant as is his interpretation of Troughton. His version of Zoe is great as well. Not the voice, obviously, but the attitude and styling of it. (I'm still not sure what the purpose of the second reader is, and why she only played one character? Couldn't she have done Zoe as well?)

The story itself is well thought-out and enjoyable, if the ending was a bit rushed. But the twist at the end I did not see coming and was ... I don't know if "horrifying" is the right word, but have a definite shock value. I absolutely recommend the Shadow of Death!
