This is the complete version of Pepys Diary, and you will encounter many days and time frames when he might just as well have said "nothing happened". However, you will also find such things as an eyewitness account of the Great Fire of London of 1666, and much discussion of Pepys personal life, with some intimate details. One thing to like about diaries is, that while they may be in one way or another biased about a particular subject (political, religious, whatever), they are honest accounts, first hand, and not speculation by someone writing decades or even centuries after the fact. There is no influence by modern self censoring or political correctness. You may choose not to read all of this, there is a lot of material here, but even reading excerpts will probably give a glimpse into 17th century life in Britain.
