Their is some depression in my family. My mother struggled with it most of my life. Recently, I have struggled as my kids have grown up and going through the change of life. I know so many people on medication and they have suggested that. I absolutely do not want to be on medication for depression. So I was very interested in this book. Gabriella Williams did a wonderful job with this book. She struggled with some things and while reading this it pretty much hit home. She points out that when taking medication you can get better as long as you are taking the medication so she found a way to get better without the meds. One thing is to watch what you eat, for example eat a lot of omega -3. Also live in the present not in the past or in the future. Also, Exercise. There is so much more advice packed into this book. I am taking so much from it then having others read it as well.

The author of the book tells her story of depression and how she recovered from this horrible condition without medication or expensive therapy. She had tried all those alternatives in the past and had to find a way to make herself be happy again. Her story begins about the time she entered junior high when she began using her father’s razors to cut her arms and legs. She didn’t want to die, she just wanted the pain to go away and cutting herself was a way to get past the hurt and pain for just a few minutes. Her story is truly an eye opener on the reality of depression and the emotions felt during the sadness that comes with depression. Her story of recovery without the use of medications and therapy in the end is one that is truly remarkable. This book is perfect for someone who would like to seek alternative ways to help with depression.

The title of How I Cured my Depression drew my attention for many reasons. I have battled depression for many years. Even though I have never harmed my self I have reached the stage of feeling as if everyone would be better off with out me and sink into my self for periods of time. By reading this book I learned many things. How to get into a different mind frame, things I could do to help me see things and approach the way I handle it rather than letting it get me into a slump. I know many medical conditions can be the actual cause for the depression many of us suffer from and with the right medical treatment we can get help. Gabriella Williams give a vast amount of advice that I feel that an one suffering from depression can benefit from. From recognizing the triggers to methods to get through it or bypass it completely.

Gabby’s story really hit home for me as I have struggled with depression for quite a few years now and medication doesn’t seem to make it go away. Now don’t get me wrong it does help but I still seem to struggle with some of the effects of my depression.
I really am thinking of trying the TLC method in this book. I would much rather meditate and take omega-3’s than prescription medication. The author also gives you some really good references that helped her with curing her depression along with taking supplements.
If you are looking for an alternative way to treat your depression then I definitely suggest that you read “How I Cured My Depression: The Practical Plan I Used to Cure My Depression and Anxiety Problems Without Drug Prescriptions and Expensive Counseling Sessions” by Gabriella Williams.

If you are like me having questionable anxiety or depression but yet don't want to take anything for it due to either not liking meds or being very sensitive to meds then this book is highly recommended. Throughout the book you see from a first hand experience someone who you can relate to. You see multiple ways to help you avoid having episodes of depression. You are shown ways to fight and deal with general life bad times. They help to show that you don't need to take meds to truly deal with these disorders. The book teaches you that by taking control of your life you are able to fight through the hard times. Truly a very motivational read for anyone who wants to find ways to beat this issue.
