The most emotional ending of any Star Wars book so far,

"Nooooo!" This is what you find yourself saying throughout the entire last half of the book. You'll be ripped apart as you witness the whirlwind of events happening on Melida/Daan. I usually don't feel anything while reading, but in this book, I had the same feeling of desperation you get when watching that big-breasted blond turn the corner in a scary movie and you can see the murderer behind her. If you want to read about Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's early adventures but are daunted by the thought of reading all 9 books, I suggest starting here and reading this, The Uncertain Path, and The Captive Temple. They will show you a side of the two Jedi you would never imagine. But don't think you can read just this one. You will feel a disturbance in the Force until you read the next two as well.

When I finished this book I was numb. I couldn't believe what Obi-Wan did. I rated this book 4 stars because of the ending. I have not bought the next book in the series, so I am still waiting untill I can pick it up and read through it in less than an hour. I read this book, like all the others in this series in less than two hours each. This book was OK...but definetly NOT the best. The book had many good parts, like detail and so on, but I still think each book in the series should be LONGER! I've read a lot of other reviews, and lots of people agree with me on the books being too short. Not that they're not worth waiting for until the next one comes out. I can't wait to read the next one! But as I said, this was definetly NOT the best in the series! I hope the next book is better!

Jedi Apprentice Defenders of the Dead,

I don't think this book is as good as any of the others. It is mostly just about Obi-Wan and his Master Qui-Gon Jinn on the planet Melida/Daan where two tribes are constantly fighting one war after another. Obi-Wan makes some friends (as he always does) and meets a group of kids who are coming up with a plan to bring peace to the planet. He then realizes that on Melida/Daan, while staying with this group of kids, he has had more freedom than he has ever had when he was a Jedi. He must decide: Is he to be a Jedi Knight, what he has always dreamed of, or part of this group on Melida/Daan with his new friends and freedom?
