Pressestimmen

Jenks employs extensive scientific knowledge and methods in developing his approach to successful gardening. He brings the hard-won knowledge of dirty-hands gardeners you may never have heard of, and some other gardeners similarly generous with their own earned wisdom who enjoy world-wide reputations All this is complemented with magnificent photographs of plants and gardens, projects and pathways, flowers and creatures the writing is beautiful, the ideas are substantial. Deep-Rooted Wisdom takes you down the garden path, traveling at a sweet pace. 24. März 2014
Von Helen Yoest - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
As I’m reading Jenks’ words, my life’s stride slows to something manageable and I’m reminded that gardening is a journey, not a race. At the end of each chapter, I closed the cover on the wisdom in between, and paused to give self-evaluation. I asked the hard questions, “How far have I drifted? Can I go back to my old ways--the ways my father taught me? The answers were yes on both counts, but thankfully, I haven’t drifted into a place of remorse. I, too, garden with wisdom from the flame-keepers; now I can add Jenks’ book to my inspiration. Jenks Farmer is a gifted storyteller, writing as if you were with him by the fire while he shares heart-felt knowledge. I recommend Deep-Rooted Wisdom to anyone who gardens or hopes to one day. You will learn not only how-to, but also why-to, or at least he will get you thinking along those lines.

This is a most amazing book. Full of down to earth advice for planting old fashioned gardens. I am reading it like a novel and just can't put it down. It has opened my eyes to a new old way to garden. Thank you Jenks for being so enlightened!

Well-written and beautifully put together 1. Juli 2014

This book is a pleasure to look at and to read. It was clearly a labor of love, but there is certainly a great deal of wisdom in it, too, and not just about plants. It reads like a literary work. I am certain that I will return to it many times in the coming years.

I met Jenks on 2006 attending a Hirticulture symposium in Davidson, NC- a long way from here in Ohio.
The speakers were assigned tables for the meals, and he was at mine. I had the pleasure of getting to speak with him
at length, and it made his presentation all the more meaningful. I have followed his journey the past several years, and loved hearing that he was doing a book - it is truly 'homegrown wisdom' and you can almost feel Jenks there with you as you are reading!
