Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Sisters Loretta Jackson and Vickie Britton grew up in Junction City, Kansas. They are co-authors of more than forty novels, including eight Ardis Cole mysteries, three Luck of the Draw westerns, and two High Country mysteries. They are drawn to out-of-the-way places, old mining towns, and vast rangelands where the legends and history of the past live on. Inspired by the rugged mountains of Wyoming and Colorado, they find the lonely, high country region a perfect setting for their novels. Loretta and Vickie both live in Kansas.

Amazing 14. Januar 2013
Von supernatural65 - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch
I've always loved westerns. My dad loves them and so do I. Death comes in Pairs is a western. Accused of killing two men in Douglas, Wyoming Jack Leige finds himself wanting to finally settle down in a nice quiet life. However it seems fate has other plans. Once again accused of killing two men Jack finds himself drawn to a local girl by the name of Vida Wrey. Now he has a reason to stay. If they don't hang him first.

I loved Death Comes in pairs. My only regret was it wasn't longer. At the end of the book I found myself wanting to read more. Loretta Jackson and Vickie Britton are talented writers, who built suspense to the end.

Death Comes in Pairs brings to mind the old westerns that used to be so popular. I congratulate the authors on a job well done.

Potent mix for a whodunit western-style 1. September 2014
Von Nik Morton - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Kindle Edition
The prolific writing sisters Loretta Jackson and Vickie Britton have written over 40 novels, in a number of genres. This is a traditional western with a strong mystery element.

Jack Liege is just a tad unlucky. He is arrested in the town of Douglas for the murder of two sheepherders. He escaped the hang-rope and was acquitted.

He decided to get away and rode into Ellis Crossing. Here, he soon gets involved in an incipient range war – between Tobe Cranston, cattleman, and the sheepmen, the McGarwin brothers and their relative Hyatt Duncan.

Death seems to stalk Jack and he’s suspected of being the murderer as new bodies turn up. Which is a shame, as he’d taken a fancy to the attractive Vida Wray, female journalist. But he was vying for her affections against the local lawyer, Dale Willis, so his chances were slim.

To make matters worse, Sheriff Boyd Russen was watching Jack closely, convinced he had something to hide. However, there were other people in town who were not necessarily what they seemed: the hotelier Lamay, the mysterious Max Sanger, and the hotel barman Laird.

This is a potent mix for a whodunit western-style and the authors don’t disappoint. Well written with plenty of colourful description and characters, it’s an enjoyable read that keeps you turning the pages to the satisfying conclusion.

DEATH COMES IN PAIRS is an excellent read, as much mystery as western. Well written and well researched. I recommend it without reservation.

This was not one of my favorite books but it was good light reading when wanting something to read that you can put down from time to time.
